Clothing at Tesco Loves.. Natasha Bailie

By Rochelle Symons in Clothing at Tesco loves on Friday 30th April, 2010

There is something magical about vintage clothing…the history of an item, the lure of mystery from times past…and just the joy of wearing something that has stood the test of time.

One of the most fanatical vintage addicts is Natasha Bailie, who not only has an online shop filled to the brim with pretty vintage clothing, but also a blog devoted to all things bygone.

It doesn’t take anyone too long to realise that the girl is crazy about Grace Kelly and all things 1950’s.

Her blog details celebs obsessed with vintage, current fashion icons and inspiration, icons in history and general fashion news.

You may have seen Natasha on the BBC, styling the ladies from Aol Stylelist or in the Sunday Times. She knows her stuff!

Her blog is a haven for everyone obsessed with the 1950’s, Emma Pillsbury of Glee or beautiful vintage dresses.

We like it a lot! How about you?

Street Style – South African Style

By Rochelle Symons in Street Style on Thursday 29th April, 2010

With the World Cup just around the corner, we had our South African insider hit the streets to give us a taste of what the big trends and looks are in Cape Town.

Unlike here, the summer season has just ended in South Africa, and they are moving into autumn, which is why some of our models are dressed up a bit warmer than you would expect.

For those of you travelling to the World Cup, remember that it’s going to be rainy and a bit cold (although nowhere near as cold as our autumn). So stock up on light jackets and denim. If your not heading off to the World Cup, but want too make sure you enter our competition to win a family trip to the World Cup.

Our insider has informed us vintage clothing has always been a big part of Cape Town fashion, you can see a lot of vintage pieces in these photos. There are loads of vintage stores in Cape Town, and if you chose the right ones you can honestly snap up some ridiculously cheap bargains!

Our model in the red dress is rocking the ‘zef’ trend with her sunglasses, a South African trend epitomized by the band ‘Die Antwoord’.

What do you think of their style? Are you a fan?

May Day

By Rochelle Symons in News on Tuesday 27th April, 2010

This coming weekend (as I am sure you know) is a long one. It’s the weekend where we get to celebrate May Day, which to a lot of people, means one thing… Morris dancing, yes dig out those ‘belled’ shoes!

Hmm ok not for everyone? If you are looking for something a little different this year, what about some of these fabulous events happening around the country:

A truly magical event is taking place in London this weekend, with Kensington Palace being transformed into an Enchanted Palace by a theatre company in collaboration with fashion legends Vivienne Westwood, William Tempest and Stephen Jones. It centres around the theme of 7 princesses, all of whom have lived there. A fantastic mix of history and fairytale, this is a must-see.

If you fancy a trip to the coast, why not pop down to the Brighton Festival? Starting this Saturday, and running for most of the month, it’s a great event for the whole family. With both outdoor and indoor events, as well as theatre shows, exhibitions and movie screenings, this really is an entertaining and educational way to spend the weekend.

If you looking for something up North this bank holiday, there is a family fun weekend happening at Bury street railway station in Manchester. Over the weekend there will be a host of events including a magician, a circus workshop and of course lots of steam trains. Which is sure to be a great family day out!

There are loads of events happening all over the UK this weekend, what have you got planned? Will you be celebrating in a more traditional style? Will you be hanging out with your family? Will you be partying the weekend away? Do let us know…

Suit up!

By Rochelle Symons in Menswear on Monday 26th April, 2010

Everyone loves a man in a good suit. It’s a fact. (well, at least in our opinion).

So that’s why we’ve decided to feature some of our lovely men’s suits on the blog. We know you ladies love to get your men looking their best, so we are happy to help in whatever way possible! Be it for a wedding this summer or their everyday job, there is something for everyone.

First up we have an F&F pinstripe jacket that is just £35, then an Urban Resistance suit jacket for £69. Followed by an F&F herringbone jacket for £35, and last but not least an F&F neutral suit jacket for £35.  We have lots more pieces online, as well as matching trousers, so we’re sure there is something for every occasion in the range.

The key to wearing a suit well, is in choosing the right one. There are many things to look for including getting the right fit and shape as well as the right colour, these tips from Ape To Gentleman (a great blog about male grooming) are a good reference. It also includes general grooming tips for every man…

Are you off to a wedding this summer? If so, do let us know what you wore and help inspire the masses looking for the right wedding day outfit.

Clothing at Tesco Loves… Fish Tank Fashion

By Rochelle Symons in Clothing at Tesco loves on Friday 23rd April, 2010

Another blog to love! This week we want to tell you all about Fish Tank Fashion, a fashion blog run by the amazing Fritha Louise!

She has two fish, who obviously live in a fish tank, which is where the name of the blog comes from. And just like the blog name, Fritha Louise is also a bit quirky.

We had the pleasure of meeting her at our blogger event a few weeks ago, where she was wearing an amazing tie-dye t-shirt with a gorgeous lace “biker” jacket. Never afraid to try new things, she had also just experimented with pastel pink hair dye!

She recently did a video where she answered some of her followers questions, you can take a look here. Other posts we love are:

Inspiration for dip dyed hair

Luella inspired hair and make up

Geek chic to the max

A student and avid dancer in London, she presents lots of high street gems that have been styled with a nod to the latest catwalk trends. We also like her “edge”, have a look at her blog to see what we mean.

Have you got a blog you love? Let us know and we will take a look

By Rochelle Symons in Womenswear on Thursday 22nd April, 2010

Alright girls, throw off the layers, whip out the razors and discarded exercise bikes, because it’s time to slip back into your swimwear!

We have some amazing one and two pieces which will put you into the holiday mood in no time.

Here is just a selection of the bikini’s we have online at the moment, whether you’re feeling sparkly, sexy or functional there is something for everyone!

One piece swimsuits have evolved! With their bright colours and differing straps everyone wants a one piece now. They are great for the beach and holding in any unwanted tummies.
