Clothing at Tesco loves… Sweet Monday

By Ken Synnott in Clothing at Tesco loves on Friday 31st December, 2010

Sweet Monday

Friday again, and this week we’re loving Sweet Monday, a fashion blog written by Kim who can quite enviably put together bang-on-trend outfits and pull them off in an effortless manner. There’s no better example of this than her self styled Clothing at Tesco outfit, where we’ve completely fallen for her cut out top and jacquard trouser combo!

We all know that the finishing touches can make or break an outfit, and it’s certainly something that Kim pays particular attention to. She is crazy for nail art, and her designs not only complement each of her outfits down to a tee, but have also left us feeling inspired to get experimental with our own! Check them out for yourselves – our particular favourites are the leopard print design and these nude chanel decals.

We look forward to more outfit inspiration from Kim, and we’re sure that she won’t struggle to inspire!

If you’re on twitter, you can follow her too!

Happy Friday!

2010 – What a year it has been

By Rochelle Symons in News on Wednesday 29th December, 2010

Wow, what a year it has been! Christmas is a fantastic time of year – arguably our favourite – so before we say goodbye to 2010, let’s indulge in some Christmas nostalgia and look back over the past 12 months…

Here at Clothing at Tesco we started the year off with a bang with the launch of our Lifestyled blog, Twitter account and Facebook page, so we could talk directly to our customers and fans, and find out what you liked, disliked, wanted to see more of, share our favourite things and generally have a good chin wag! What a start it was because that’s where our regular Friday feature ‘Tesco Loves…’ was born, and we’ve loved showing you and talking about some very inspiring people!

This was followed by our Friday Frenzy, giving all our Facebook fans up to 50% off everything on the site. We had such an overwhelming response that we extended a 25% discount for everyone to snap up their favourite items.

If that sounds jam packed, well we can’t be forgetting the World Cup! What a whirlwind it was. All the men in the country, probably the world, were glued to their televisions. Luckily we were there to come to the rescue of any ‘World Cup Widows’ left stranded by their match-watching partners, bringing you all discounts every time England played a game.  So even though England didn’t reach the final stage, it’s ladies we’re looking fabulous!

Now the summer seems a distant memory with all the snow we’ve been having, but some of you may remember the madness of our Twitter summer Giveaway! And we followed it up with a fab Back to School competition for all our yummy mummies.

Well, now it’s December and, looking back, it really has been a jam-packed year, and we’ve loved sharing it with you all. We couldn’t forget to thank you for your spooky twitter stories on Halloween – we just adore a creative soul. So a few weeks ago we decided to launch our first Facebook App, sporting a sparkly Christmas giveaway.

2010 really has been the year for new beginnings, and not just any old new beginnings, Prince William and Kate Middleton announced their engagement and we couldn’t be happier for them!

Bring on next year we say! We’ve got loads to look forward to including London Fashion Week, which Clothing at Tesco are sponsoring, the return of our express next day delivery service and the fabulous Royal Wedding – we can’t wait!

Be sure to follow us on Twitter and Facebook for all live updates as and when they happen!

How to throw a great New Year’s Eve party

By Ken Synnott in News on Tuesday 28th December, 2010

To paraphrase a famous Christmas song – it’s another year over, a new one just beginning.  Depending on what your plans are, New Year’s Eve can sometimes be as much as an orgainsational feat as Christmas – it’s a wonder we still have the energy!

Fret not however, our friends over at Tesco mag have NYE down to a fine art and have shared their gems of wisdom on how to throw a great new years party.  And for those of us who like to venture out for the big night, there’s some fabulous style and makeup tips! So have a wander over before all the madness kicks off and relax in the knowledge there’s still time to throw the greatest party of 2010!

Great style on a post-Christmas budget

By Rochelle Symons in Christmas, News, Top Picks on Monday 27th December, 2010

We hope everyone had a lovely Christmas! We hear the National Lottery created 25 new millionaires on Christmas eve – was anyone lucky?

If, like me, you didn’t win (or remember to buy a ticket), are avoiding even glancing at the bank balance, but still don’t want to miss the sales, I thought I’d make a shortlist of the best priced clothes, shoes and accessories on the site.

My first pick is this F&F Faux fur snood. Not just because it’s in the sale.  But because there are often times when you’re glamming it up on a night out and a scarf just wont do!  Snoods are the perfect solution – and not just because they were a major trend this year. Practical, fashionable and at under a fiver – affordable is always a win in my book!

F&F Faux Fur Snood

Next up is the Maxi Dress – another big trend this year, and for once one that suits everyone.  Versatile, comfortable, and after a Christmas lunch where I could have wiped the floor with Homer Simpson in an all you can eat contest, the maxi has no waistband so hides a multitude of sins. Seen on everyone from Nicole Richie to Claudia Schiffer and Mischa Barton, the maxi is a trend that will last long into 2011.  My three favourites are below, but there’s plenty more on the site.

Knee-high boots have been huge this season, and as we’ve been noticing, everyone from Kate Moss to the ladies here at Tesco Clothing HQ have been opting for the stylish alternative to wellington boots to beat the blizzards!  These F&F biker boots go great with everything and at just £20 won’t break the bank.

Clothing at Tesco loves… Cowbiscuits

By Ken Synnott in Clothing at Tesco loves on Friday 24th December, 2010

This week we’ve been reading a great fashion blog called Cowbiscuits written by SJ, whose attention to detail in terms of her personal style has left us suitably impressed!

A girl with a love for accessories, SJ has a useful knack for deciding the appropriate amount to make the outfit, and we’d love to get up close and personal with her treasure trove of necklaces, rings, scarves, and even brooches! There are more than a few pieces that we’ve been enviously oogling, including a beautiful hair piece, a squirrel brooch, and this love ring.

She also likes to try her hand at cooking, and we can’t thank her enough for this mouth-watering Christmas Peppermint Bark recipe! A definite must for the festive season!

If you’re on twitter, be sure to follow her too!

Happy Friday!

What We’re Wearing

By Rochelle Symons in Behind the scenes, News, Womenswear on Thursday 23rd December, 2010

Hi guys! We hope everyone is keeping warm and safe during these snowy times. There are a few gorgeous F&F aviator jackets left in the sale so be sure to check it out if you’re still on the hunt for one (and look out for our ‘super sale top picks’ feature tomorrow)

So all this layering of garments under hats, scarves and gloves has got us thinking – is it possible to stay warm and still look good in these sub-zero times?  We think so, and we thought we’d give you a low-down on what we’re wearing so you can judge for yourselves (please be nice!)

Emma is wearing the F&F Limited Edition Open weave knitted jumper – paired with jeans and some gorgeous F&F ankle boots.

Rochelle is wearing a fab and funky pair of Tesco wellies! She’s teamed this with a belted warm and wooly F&F Long cardigan – we especially love the faux fur trim on this.

There’s also a variety of hats, scarves, snoods, welly socks and gloves that go on when we step outside too of course.  Some of us go for the colour-co-ordinated approach, and some of us like to brighten things up with some bold statements like this gorgeous F&F stripe diamante scarf and glove set.

There’s a great range available on the site, but we’d love to hear if there’s something you’d like to see, and any tips you have for looking stylish in winter.  Let us know what you think!
