Clothing at Tesco scores top marks for School Uniform!

By Rochelle Symons in Back To School, News on Tuesday 30th August, 2011

We’re delighted to announce that Clothing at Tesco have been awarded top marks for our school uniform against other stores by a couple of independent testers for The Sun newspaper, scoring a fab 5 out of 5 for quality and price, with the young testers (Finnbar, 5 and Scarlett, 7) “begging to take them home!”

But it’s not just the children who think we’re top of the pile. Back in July we went to visit some mums at Whitehill School to find out what they thought, and you can see their responses here.

With the new school term just around the corner it’s important their new uniform will last them through the year. Here at Tesco our uniforms are made to last and at a price that is second to none.

If you are still looking to get their new uniform, or need some last bits and pieces, you’ll be pleased to know that from today you can get free next day delivery on all Back To School items – just order by 3pm to receive it tomorrow.

Now back to arrangements for the final week of holiday…!

Gawgus Things

Even though the weather has left a lot to be desired, it’s given us a great excuse to sit down and give some love back to the fantastic bloggers who give us so much inspiration. This week we have been checking out the wealth of advice and stunning outfit suggestions on Gawgus Things.

As the name would suggest, Gawgus Things doesn’t just focus on fashion but covers all things cool, from recipes to lifestyle advice. Her recipe for “Fudgy-wudgy Cookies” looks delicious and we’ll certainly be making some soon (no doubt scoffing them all in minutes)!  We also really liked her recent save or splurge post, showing how to get the look without breaking the bank.

Gawgus Things is always a good read with exciting destinations and gorgeous outfits. It should definitely be on your must-read list for fashion inspiration; make sure you check it out.

Enjoy the long weekend and don’t forget to follow Gawgus things on Twitter.

Blog Spot – Our favourite F&F Blog posts

By Chloe Tompkins in Clothing at Tesco loves, News, Top Picks, Womenswear on Thursday 25th August, 2011

One of the best things about working for F&F is seeing the influential bloggers who follow us and love our product! It’s always really interesting to see how individuals put their own outfits together – all of whom have different tastes, ages and lifestyles!

We have loads of great advocates of our brand that we love, and every Friday we feature one of them on our blog. These mid-week ‘Blog Spot’ posts are all about highlighting our favourite blogger entries of the week involving F&F!

Our blog spot highlight of this week comes from Fish Tank Fashion writer Fritha Louise…

We love the way her striking hair really lifts this white jumper dress and gives it that extra edge… the cute ankle boots really complete the outfit too!

From Gem With Love

It’s Friday and it’s been a week jam-packed with style inspiration in the blogosphere! This week we have been reading the fantastic From Gem with Love written by the talented Gem (if the name didn’t already give it away)!

One of the best things about Gem’s blog is the quality of her photography. It’s something she’s clearly passionate about and her photos show her talent well. Her photographs of flowers are beautiful – she even did a bit of a photography tutorial recently to help her readers improve their own. We’re definitely big fans of the fashion and photography mixture!

Gem’s sense of style is lovely, and we particularly loved her post, Tangerine Dream, where she looked gorgeous in a dress from F&F! She’s also got a keen eye for vintage finds, check out this gorgeous satchel that we’ve completely fallen for!

As always, don’t forget to follow her on Twitter

Happy Friday!

I Covet Thee

Friday again and it’s time to spread some more love to our one of our favourite blogs! This week, it’s on way its way towards the lovely Alix Coburn and her blog ‘I Covet Thee’.

Alix covers a range of fashion and beauty topics, from putting together fab rock chic outfits to recommendations on her favourite perfumes and moisturisers. She has a great sense of style, and certainly knows a thing or two about piecing an outfit together! We especially like her cute safari outfit, perfect for a warm summers afternoon.

It’s also great that her blog gives you a real insight into her life, and she loves to talk about food, make-up and nails. It’s clear she has a real love for fashion, so be sure to check out her blog if you’re looking for style inspiration!

New brand… Proskins Sportswear

By Ken Synnott in Brands, Menswear, News, Sportswear, Womenswear on Thursday 4th August, 2011

This week has been extra exciting for the clothing team here at Tesco, as we’ve finally received stock of a very highly anticipated sportswear brand on the site called Proskins.

If you haven’t heard of Proskins, they’re a professional sportswear manufacturer, which with specialist knowledge, great innovations and cutting edge design; have safety established themselves as a market leader in the sportswear industry!

The clothing team are going mad for the products we have on the site, especially the ladies with the Proskin Slim products for women. The amazing Proskin Slim leggings have specially designed to optimise your body’s ability to re-sculpt and lose inches – a fantastic at just £50!

Proskins also has an extra special range by Jason Robinson (pictured below), the former international rugby union and rugby lead player! To celebrate our launch, we caught up with Jason to find out why he teamed up with Proskins

KS: Hi Jason, so how did you first get involved in rugby?

JR: It all started at school, where I was into all kinds of sports. I was at Crossflatts Park Middle school and we were always messing about with a football or a cricket bat.  I was drawn to rugby by an enthusiastic sports teacher .Although I was small and slim for my age I loved the physicality of the game.  I started to play rugby league for for an amateur club and did that for 4-5 years and got spotted by  Wigan Rugby club and I went professional at the age of 17.

KS: How did the involvement with Proskins come about?

JR: Through a friend. As a sportsman I was always being sent products to try and was always looking for something that gave me that bit extra for my sport. The Proskins Active and Recovery product provided this extra benefit. My legs feel much better after exercise due to the benefits of the compression technology.  I developed my relationship with the brand and eventually my role changed to working for the company.

KS: What was it like to design your own range?

JR: Very new and strange but ultimately it is a privilege to be able to have that much input. My relationship with the designer at Proskins was crucial as they are specialists in their field but they allowed me to give the range my own look and feel.

KS: What has surprised you through the process?

JR: Everything really. It is amazing how much you take for granted but when you are involved every element takes on new importance. From cloth weights to fabric benefits. It’s odd but in a way when you are a retired sports person you try to find something to replace the adrenaline of the game and doing this has given me a new challenge. It has been great also that we are trying to speed up the design to production process which can take 12-18 months normally and we have tried to reduce this to around 16 weeks.

KS: What has been the greatest sporting moment of your career?

JR: There have been so many special moments having played at the highest level in both rugby codes.Playing for GB, England and the British and Irish Lions have all been fantastic but winning the 2003 World Cup with England in Sydney, Australia has to be the greatest moment!

KS: What is your own personal style?

JR: Quite mixed. Sometimes life dictates what you wear. I was a professional sportsman for 20 years so there was a lot of tracksuits etc but sometimes I needed to dress smart so it is a shirt and tie. I’d say generally I am quite smart. I have had a few fashion disasters when i was a teenager though too. I remember a particularly bad outfit, which I have a picture of somewhere of a turquoise pair of jeans and a puffa jacket in a similar colour. But don’t worry I won’t be repeating that in my new range.

KS: What are your predictions for the Rugby World Cup?

JS: New Zealand are favourites and have been for the last two World Cups but really with a competition like that it is down to any team on the day. Teams like South Africa and Australia have a good chance . England will need a few favours along the way if they are to reach a third consecutive final. England showed real character in 2007 and I hope this can be repeated. It comes down to the team who can handle playing under immense pressure and turn every opportunity into points!

KS: Thanks Jason and good luck with the range.

Jason Robinson for Proskins launches online at tesco.com/clothing in late August.
