How to wear the winter maxi!

By saraferrity in Trends, Womenswear on Thursday 26th January, 2012

For most the maxi skirt is an item associated with summer but for me it’s a staple in my wardrobe all year round! In fact I find that as the weather gets colder my hemline (like the birds) goes steadily further south!  Here are some ideas on how you can rock the maxi skirt throughout the colder months!

One misconception surrounding maxi-skirts is that they can only be dressed up. Try teaming with a slouchy jumper and some comfy biker boots – you’ll have a casual outfit which wouldn’t look out of place in an Olsen twin’s wardrobe!

Black pleated maxi skirt £16.00, biker boots £10.00, F&F striped jumper £9.00

Embrace the vintage look of this great pleated maxi and go boho! Recapture the glamour of the Seventies with this gorgeous faux fur gilet à la Olivia Palermo! I just love this floppy wide brimmed hat which adds an extra dose of charm and can be reused in the summer months. Remember that boho chic is synonymous with tons of accessories so load on bangles to finish the look!

Black pleated maxi skirt £16.00Amy of Paris Gilet £19.00 , Floppy hat £7.00 , lace up boots £15.00

Who says work wear has to be boring? Coloured tailoring is all the rage this season so why not brighten up your office with a pop of colour in the form of this loose structured jacket! Pair with some cute Mary-Jane shoes – perfect for busy ladies and what better way to stay comfy and stylish? Finally why not accessorise with a skinny waist belt for a look that really means business!

Black pleated maxi skirt £16.00, Lace up dancing shoes £18.00, Plaited leather belt £8.00, F&F unstructured jacket £28.00

I hope this has inspired you to invest in something that will fare you well all year round!

What will you be wearing with yours with?

I’m so excited about our latest release of new season arrivals packed with bright colours and flattering silhouettes! With so many stunning items to choose from, I’ve had a hard time pinning down my favourites but here goes…

1.  I’m branching out from blue and buying into coloured denim! For the easiest way to inject a bit of colour into your daytime look team with neutrals and flats. I will be wearing these gorgeous plum coloured jeans with a black blazer, white tank top and platform heels for an attention-grabbing evening look!

2. It’s maxi mental – everyone’s favourite skirt shape shows no sign of slowing for SS12! The perfect capsule collection piece-wear it with slouchy knits now and then switch to a basic tee when the warmer weather comes.

3.  AW11 was the season of the pencil skirt and I’m sure you were all as thrilled as I was when I heard it was going to be big news for Spring Summer as well. Get ahead of the fashion crowd and buy them in bright colours for the forthcoming season. I adore this striped one- what a statement piece!

4. There is no reason why you can’t look as good at work as you do at play! Pussybow blouses are perfect for adding a touch of femininity to your office wear as well as smartening up jeans at the weekend. This one is so pretty and I can imagine will be a part of my wardrobe for years to come.

Clothing at Tesco Loves… Strutt

By Rochelle Symons in Clothing at Tesco loves on Friday 13th January, 2012

Strutt

Happy Friday everyone, it’s that wonderful time of the week where we can wind down and share one of our favourite fashion blogs with you! This week, we thought we’d point you in the direction of a little gem of called Strutt, written by Fashion Design graduate Charlene.

Charlene has an unmistakable passion for vintage clothing, as well as having a great eye for what’s hot – and what’s not! Her personal style is fab and she embraces the 60’s look with a touch of modern charm. We particularly like her outfit in her recent post Lace & Faux Fur, with faux fur being bang-on-trend this winter, and perfect for keeping you toasty even on those blisteringly cold days.

One of the things we particularly love about her outfit choices is her extensive hat collection – especially this one, which looks just right with the gorgeous velvet dress, giving it that slightly rocky look.

So whether it’s faux fur or animal print, Charlene’s blog is definitely one to watch, Don’t forget to follow her on Twitter to get the latest updates!

1/    The Coloured Jacket

Wear with jeans to add a pop of colour to a classic look. Brights work well with last season’s neutrals so mix colourful separates with neutral pieces to refresh your wardrobe!

 2/    The Maxi Skirt

The maxi skirt is key piece for SS12! Start with a plain jersey or pleated skirt now teamed with boots and a jumper then look out for our gorgeous soft printed ones later in the season.

3/    The Blouse

Separates are important for SS12, wear over skinny jeans or tucked into a pencil skirt.  Blouses are great colour vehicles and below is a perfect example with yellow being THE colour for SS12!

4/    The Pencil Skirt

Skirts are set to be one of the biggest trends for SS12.  Wear plain ponte pencils now then try out printed pencils later in the season

5/    Cute Knits

Great for layering over Tees and cute dresses later in the season

6/    Coloured Shift Dresses

Colour is still very important for SS12 and we are going to have loads! Get this fab dress for just £15 now in cobalt, black and red now and come back in a few weeks for more colours – yellow, orange and hot pink!

7/    Coloured Palazzos

Coloured tailoring was all over the SS12 catwalks, I love these purple palazzos!

8/    The Essential Black Skinny

Still an essential item and great for wearing black with all the fab colours of the season! wear with blouses, tunics and under dresses for a stylish transition from winter to spring!

9/    Colour Blocking

Continuing from AW12, try clashing new colours for SS12!

10/   The Mac

Get some colour in your wardrobe for the transition with a fab coloured mac! This lime green looks new and fresh for SS12!

Happy New Year!

By saraferrity in Brands, News, Sportswear on Wednesday 4th January, 2012

The season to be jolly has now passed and unfortunately it is now time to start making those New Year’s Resolutions. Top of my list this year is to get super fit and healthy!

Now I’m no Kelly Holmes….yet, but to help me on my way surely it wouldn’t hurt to look the part? My baggy jogging bottoms and t-shirts are being replaced with some sleek new sportswear from our great range.

To compliment my new fitness regime I have also enlisted the help of Tesco diets to revamp my eating habits. Check out my favourite healthy recipes here for some delicious inspiration.

Shock Absorber Padded pump sports bra £29.00 ,    Kelly Holmes Fitness Sports long sleeve t-shirt £16.00,   Kelly Holmes Fitness 3/4 Length leggings £14.00,   Kelly Holmes Fitness Jacket £20.00

Wish me luck!
