Clothing at Tesco loves… I Want You To Know!

Have you been enjoying the recent sunny spell? We’re certainly loving the summer vibes, so what better way to celebrate the sun’s reappearance, than to spread the love to another fabulous blogger! This week, we’re loving I Want You To Know, a blog written by the lovely Kristabel.

We’ve actually been reading Kristabel’s blog for a while now, and even had to chance to meet her at London Fashion Week in February – so we thought it was about time that we featured her on our very own! Kristabel’s outfits are always so well thought out, and we’re envious of her knack for pulling them off effortlessly. We especially loved her outfit in ‘Saturday Southbank’ – the contrast between the tailored blazer and quirky skirt is gorgeous, and it’s definitely one for the style notes!

Another thing we love about Kristabel’s blog is her day to day account of London life – be it grabbing a spot of Dim Sum at Covent Garden or wondering the fascinating Portobello market – there’s always something there to get us inspired!

So why not grab a quiet spot in the sun to have a good read of Kristabel’s blog, and be sure to follow her on Twitter!

Happy Friday!

Tribal Prints

By Zarah Harrison in Get the look, Trends on Thursday 22nd March, 2012

There’s a world party going on this season and you’re invited. Tribal patterns and earthy colours are inspired by African plains and safari sunsets. Wear animal and Aztec prints with bright tops and ethnic–inspired accessories for a hot, hot summer look.

We love a maxi dress in the office; they’re comfortable, flattering and an outfit in one. What’s not to love? And we especially love the tribal maxi dresses that have come in. I’ve picked out two of my favourites below but I think I’ll have a fight on my hands for the leopard print one. This has proved very popular among the girls in the office and we have a rule that only one of us can own an item, otherwise we might have a ‘oh my god, we’re both wearing the same dress’ disaster.

The tribal print trend works really well with beach wear too, I’ve picked out a few bikinis and one of our absolutely gorgeous katfkans. These are so handy when you are away, if you want to step off the beach for a spot of lunch or to grab a cold drink, you can just slip this over the top. Plus it’s not just for the beach either; you can wear this for days in the park with a little slip underneath and a chunky belt and lots of beaded necklaces for a real bohemian seventies look.

Finally, I wanted to give a sneak peak of some of the garments that are due in over the coming weeks. These shots were taken our recent photoshoot in Miami, sadly I didn’ t get to go, so I’ll have to contend with just buying a few of these to make up for it. In the office, we are all chomping at the bit, there are some seriously gorgeous clothes about to come through our doors and well, it would be selfish to keep them to myself, so see below. Make sure you keep your eyes peeled for these as I can guarantee, these will go very fast…….

Great Expectations

By Zarah Harrison in Maternity, Top Picks on Tuesday 20th March, 2012

Spring is here and it looks like it’s not just the lambs that are making their way into the world. I feel like everywhere I look at the moment I am seeing expectant mothers and their glowing faces. So I thought it might be a good idea to do a blog post on maternity wear and show those expectant mums that we have some good quality, comfortable maternity basics and they don’t have to cost the earth.

Now if you are fortunate enough to be going away for a little r & r before the big event, you’re a very lucky woman. We have some great swimsuits that are designed specifically for pregnancy and even have special ruching down the side to allow for growth as you progress in your term. I picked this one out as it has a very attractive strap detail and I love the colour.Maternity swimsuit

Quite often there are a few items in your normal wardrobe that you can still wear as you get bigger, some looser clothing or empire line dresses are often quite good for that sort of thing. Underwear does not come under this category unfortunately and mums to be always find themselves having to shell out quite a bit. We are really proud of our Emma Jane maternity underwear at Clothing at Tesco because they’re reasonably priced and we’ve really focused on quality. Bras that have been carefully designed to be a comfortable fit and adjustable back-eyes which you can use to expand as you progress in your pregnancy. Emma Jane nursing bras are great for when you are breastfeeding but will give you support during your pregnancy too so you don’t have buy a whole load of new underwear once you give birth. And if you’re still not convinced, why not click through on our white one below; it was awarded the best product for breastfeeding at the Mother & Baby Awards 2011/12.

Maternity nursing bra £12 (white), Maternity nursing bra £12 (black), Maternity support band £12 (black)Maternity over the bump brief £10 (white), Pack of 4 bra extenders £5

Who says you can’t look a little sexy when you are expecting! I really love this maternity nightdress, with its silky smooth viscose fabric and a delicate lace trim. It’s also perfect for when the little one comes along as the V neck design allows easy access for breast feeding

That’s all for today and remember, Mum is not the word, we’d love to hear from you if you’ve got any feedback on our products!

Clothing at Tesco loves… Not So Serious Fashion

Not So Serious Fashion

Hello and happy Friday to all our fab LifeStyled readers! Here are just a few things that have made us smile this week: the sun peeping his sleepy head from beneath the clouds, payday and following our favourite blogger this week: Not So Serious Fashion!

Gemma’s knack for on-trend affordable fashion for the plus size lady is spot on! We love how she gives a feminine outfit some oomph by layering a chunky knit over a floaty dress, and teams it with a chic biker jacket and opaques. We also particularly enjoy how she’s given an embellished headband another lease of life as a necklace!

Gemma’s blog blends fashion and accessory tips and finds, from high-street to thrift store, along with an infectiously bubbly personality, so be sure to check her out!

Have a happy weekend everyone! x

P.S. We’re craving the coconut macaroons she made. YUM!

Don’t Stop til’ you Colour Block!

By saraferrity in Trends on Thursday 15th March, 2012

The sun is shining outside and I’m growing increasingly bored of the black that had became my best friend (well in my close circle of friends at least!) during the colder months. So I’ve decided it’s the perfect time to indulge in one of this season’s biggest trends – colour blocking!

Now I’m quite reserved when it comes to colour but I really can’t resist the bright clothes coming into stock at Tesco so I thought what better was to try the trend out than in our F&F virtual fitting room! Have a look at some of the outfits I tried on and you decide whether I can rock the colour block look or not!

Swimwear to make the most of every figure!

By saraferrity in Sportswear, Top Picks on Tuesday 13th March, 2012

As the cold weather begins to leave and we begin to shed our scarves and gloves, a new worry arrives – swimsuit season is on the horizon!

Panic not ladies – help is available with our handy body shape style guide online! Whether you’re curvy, athletic, have broad hips or shoulders we have some great advice on swimwear for your shape as well as a great selection of swimsuits, tankinis, and bikinis to make the most of any figure.

For apple shapes: Look out for tummy control when buying a swimsuit or tankini, this will smooth and support the tummy area. Detail on the bust will focus attention away from the tummy whilst an empire line will enhance the narrowest area of your waist. Ladies swimwear with vertical details lengthen the body and provide a slimming effect.

My top pick for apples

F&F sporty swimsuit £10.00

For pear shapes: When choosing a swimsuit, bikini or tankini aim to have the detail, colour and design focusing on the chest and away from the hips. Achieve a slimmer look – opt for control fabrics with draped and ruched styling. Asymmetric details on ladies swimwear will avoid a focus on unwanted areas.

My top pick for pears

Zoggs 50s retro swimsuit £43.00

For hourglass shapes: Be bold and flaunt those curves! Enhance your shape with added features such as cup support and control panels. An empire line in your swimwear choice, whether a swimsuit or tankini, will further enhance your natural shape.

My top pick for hourglasses

Mariemeili polka dot balconette bikini top £16.00  , Mariemeili polka dot balconette bikini bottoms £14.00

For rectangle shapes: Details on the waist will create the illusion of curves. Enhance your shape with added swimwear features such as padded cups and control panels. Look out for bold colours and prints, you can get away with it so go for it!

My top pick for rectangles

F&F magic twist suit £14.00

For triangle shapes: When choosing your swimwear aim to have the detail on the lower half focusing attention away from the chest. Embrace your assets with sweetheart necklines. Look for swimsuits, bikinis or tankinis with hidden support features such as cupsized, underwired and shelf bras.

All you have to do now is wait for the warmer weather and book those holidays!

Be inspired by fabulous 50s’ style

By Zarah Harrison in Celebrity, Get the look, Trends on Tuesday 6th March, 2012

We’re loving this season’s retro 50’s styling. Think Olivia Newton John in Grease with her casual ponytail, cardigan and full skirt. Colour is key, plain or floral brights. Wear prom dresses and pencil skirts for a sexy silhouette – the perfect look for a smart day at work, a night out or even that first spring wedding…

For the casual everyday 50s’ look, opt for belted cropped trousers and a sleeveless shirt. The one I’ve chosen below with the bow print is really cute and very much embodies the style of that era. Team this look with a pair of plimsoles, pumps or wedges, it doesn’t really matter they all work with this look so whatever you find most comfortable. To accessorise I’ve added a cherry print belt and a floral print boxy bag; the bag contrasts quite nicely with the shirt but if you prefer your look to be a little more subtle, you can go for a one block colour instead. Finally top your whole look off with a rosebud pink lipstick.

If you are looking to bring a little 50s’ glamour into your  office work wardrobe,  just think Madmen.  The pencil skirt is an absolute must for this look; I’ve chosen a mustard skirt which was a very popular colour in the 1950s. These skirts are very flattering to a curvy figure and look great when you team them up with a fitted shirt, (tucked in of course). Below are two colours to choose from, white and chocolate brown, both of them work well with this outfit. If you have an important meeting and want to look sharp but elegant; add a tailored jacket to give extra impact. Some peeptoe high heels and a pearl necklace (worn close to the neck) will top the outfit off perfectly.

Pencil skirt, brown fitted shirt, white fitted shirt, tailored jacket, peeptoe heels, pearls

We have some very lovely dresses that are perfect for the wedding season; my absolute favourite is this lemon yellow dress below. Very flattering and easy to wear. The model is wearing it with some vivid aqua green shoes which I love, but if you’d rather something a little more subtle, then white or cream shoes would look good too. And if the great British summer doesn’t live up to it’s name, keep yourself from going blue with this fitted dragonfly cardigan  or if you want to keep your look very smart, you can opt for a tailored white jacket.

And lastly as a little treat to our blog readers, I’m going to let you in on a little secret. Next week we are going to be adding some very lovely dresses to clothingattesco.com, so make sure you get in first and check them out because something tells me they will be very popular and we have limited stock. Check out the floral prom dress below as a sneak peak of what’s to come…
