Clothing at Tesco loves … A Dress is for Life

All this yo-yo weather is playing havoc with our summer wardrobes – one minute we’re getting out the summer dresses, the next we’re reaching for our woolly cardigans! We’ve been searching for style inspiration from the blogosphere, and after meeting blogger Rachel at Plus North we’ve been pouring over her lovely blog, A Dress is for Life!

Dress-lover Rachel opened the doors of her wardrobe in April 2012 to show off her retro-tastic looks. Rachel is the curvy Queen of looking great without spending a fortune, and knows exactly how to accessorize an outfit to perfection.

This lady has an incredible collection of dresses, and it’s fair to say we’re more than a little bit jealous! We love the way she adds little touches to create a vintage feel, like this cute silk headscarf and the cute crochet hat she wore to the Plus North event recently – it looks fabulous with her Clothing at Tesco dress!

You can also tune in to Rachel’s fashion frolics on Twitter by following her @Irregularaholic.

Happy Friday everyone!

Plus North – What a Swell Party it Was!

By Zarah Harrison in Plus Size, Womenswear on Tuesday 17th July, 2012

We recently attended the Plus North event in Leeds, organized by bloggers Becky and Toni. Becky was kind enough to write a post and give us the lowdown on what went on – read on to find out more about this fabulous celebration of Plus Size fashion!

Win tickets to Plus North fashion event!

When I started my blog last year I never thought I’d be lucky enough to be visiting London, attending events and meeting the likes of Gok Wan and viewing exclusive collections before they hit the shops, but here I am and how fabulous is that?! The one thing I noticed when the invites for events started coming in was that everything was in London, and as someone based in the North it can be quite costly to travel to these events, so I thought it might be fun to organise an event in the North. To cut a long story short what began as a small bloggers event snowballed in to a huge afternoon of fashion, shopping and fun!

With the help of fellow blogger Toni from The Only Way is Toni, we managed to pull off a huge event which were really proud of, and I think more than anything is the complete and utter positivity of the day that we’re most proud of, the feedback we’ve received from everybody who attended about how they felt welcomed, and it made them feel more positive about their bodies has been amazing!

Hosted in the beautiful Aspire venue in Leeds city centre, over 150 plus size women gathered together to enjoy an afternoon of pampering, shopping, catwalk shows, and photo booth frolics!

Sponsors included Simply Be, Evans, Benefit Cosmetics, Curvissa, Excite Clothing and of course Clothing at Tesco who showcased the beautiful Ann Harvey collection and talked about some very exciting developments within their plus size ranges! It’s always really great to hear from retailers who are putting in the effort to make their plus size ranges more thought out, fashionable and well fitted and that’s just what Clothing at Tesco are doing, and along with Metail they are taking the online shopping experience to a new level with their virtual fitting room.

Along with a catwalk show guests were welcome to have a manicure, indulge in cupcakes and macaroons and meet lots of exciting companies changing the face of plus size fashion.

Check out more photos of the event here!

We really had a fantastic day and loved hearing from everyone one who was there, best get planning next years now then!

Clothing at Tesco loves… Lost & Found

Clothing at Tesco loves... Lost & Found

Although there’s been a distinct lack of summer sunshine this week, month, (year?), lets look on the bright side because the weekend is here! This week, as if by magic, we’ve found our way to the fabulous fashion/lifestyle blog… Lost and Found!

Brought to life by the retro-styled Laura and her love of writing, fashion, design and her general need to always be doing something; Lost & Found is every woman’s one-stop-shop for high street trends, charity shop and car boot sale trinkets that will make you want to hunt down your nearest hidden gems, and also for discovering other great blogs out there in her weekly I’m Loving feature.

If you’re more of a visual girl, then we highly recommend lining up a cheeky ‘duvet day’ this weekend and browsing Laura’s My Week In Photos section of her blog, lots of pretty snaps – it’s made a few of us start our own weekly photo diary too!

With a degree in Writing Fashion and Culture and a Masters in Fashion Merchandise Management this chick knows her stuff, but she also makes fashion about having fun, rather than being too serious which is what we love at Clothing at Tesco!

PS. We heart Laura’s fab outfit at our F&F Pop Up Shop launch party!

If you’re looking for vintage-style 1950’s inspiration – possibly our favourite decade for fashion that flatters – then look no further than our blog of the week… Pocket Rocket Fashion!

Pocket Rocket Fashion is a hub of deliciously affordable fashion finds, collected by Lauren, the pocket-sized, curvy fashionista at the helm of the blog, Lauren founded her cute blog back in August 2009 when she decided to put all her fashion know-how to work to create Pocket Rocket Fashion.

We love Lauren’s eye for style and glamour, and her eye for simple touches that make all the difference to an outfit, like a kitsch themed brooch. Our favourite look is her amped up old-school Hollywood glamour outfit which teams elegant black lace with lavishly ruched floral textures in a way that screams demure goddess. This outfit would be perfect for weddings, the races, or a fun night out.
