Despite mixed reviews regarding the third instalment of her self-deprecating confessional, Bridget Jones still holds a special place in our hearts. While she may not be everyone’s idea of a style icon, we think there’s a lot to be said for this character’s wardrobe, and we’re not ashamed to say that a big part of that is down to the fact she knows how to get comfy in a cracking pair of PJs…
The looks we love
Hollywood heroine in a denim jacket? We would say “only Bridget” but the wonderful thing is, we’re pretty sure we could pull it off too. All this look takes is a long scarf, worn draped around your neck and then pulled up to cover your hair with one end flung glamorously over one shoulder. Oh, and don’t forget those oversized sunnies. Team with laid-back casualwear for weekend chic with a twist.
Bridget knows the LBD is a girl’s BFF, and she wears hers short and figure-hugging for maximum Daniel Cleaver-attracting success. He may turn out to be a cheating so-and-so, but the point stands: you can’t beat this classic wardrobe staple. We assume we don’t need to mention the need for a slightly more modern approach to shapewear, though?
Knee-high boots that are stylish as well as comfortable are the Holy Grail of winter footwear, and we’d unashamedly steal Bridget’s style as she makes her entrance in the fireman’s pole bit of the first film if it means we get to wear any of these beauties. We may draw the line at the bright yellow hardhat, however.
And now for the look that really earns Bridget our vote for Best Classic Christmas Film Character: those novelty penguin-print PJs. The cartoon birds float haphazardly on a background of fabulously festive red, and a pair of chunky socks finish off the outfit. Luckily for us, character PJs are in abundance in F&F’s winter collection, and we’re pretty sure Bridget would be right behind the onesie trend, too. Yes, it’s going to be a very cosy Christmas.
