Our accessory picks for A/W11!

By saraferrity in Accessorizes, Top Picks, Trends on Wednesday 19th October, 2011

It’s no secret that accessories can make or break an outfit, but also come in especially handy for the upcoming chilly season! Here at F&F HQ, we love nothing more than to discuss which accessories work with a particular outfit, so be sure to check out some of our absolute favourites for this season below!

Scarves

F&F Geometric Print Silky Square Scarf – £6, F&F Abstract Print Silky Scarf – £6, F&F Chunky Knit Tassel Scarf – £10

Scarves can be a great finishing touch to any outfit, and are a great way to add that extra warmth in the colder months! Be sure to match your scarf to the occasion however – thicker knitted scarves look fab paired with skinny jeans for an everyday look, whilst thinner printed scarves are the perfect addition to any formal outfit!

Bags

F&F Pleated Mini Tote Bag – £12.50, F&F Satchel Tote – £14, F&F Patent Work Bag – £10

Every woman needs a trusty bag to carry all of the essentials, but finding that perfect one can sometimes be a chore. I personally think that it’s important to have a range of bags – from a glam clutch to wear with ‘that’ new dress, to a roomy handbag for those days when I have to chuck it all in! Vintage styled bags are definitely key pieces this season, and look great worn with a quilted jacket and dark skinny jeans.

Jewellery

Lisa Butcher For Made Maridadi Necklace – £15, Majique Gold Tone and Turquoise Ring – £6, Majique Coloured Cuff – £10

This season, be sure to turn heads with statement jewellery! Gold is a key colour, and a glam way to add warmth to any outfit. Also keep an eye out for chunky jewellery, as this is bang on trend and will effortlessly make an impact by drawing attention to your outfit!

Hats

F&F Floppy Hat – £12, F&F Knitted Beanie With Ears – £5, F&F Cable Knit Headband – £4

More often times than not, when I find that when my outfit doesn’t quite look right, it’s usually because I’m missing the perfect hat! There really is a hat to suit any trend, from gorgeous 70’s inspired volume of a floppy hat to a simple cable knit headband that would look great with a leather jacket for an edgy look. My personal favourite however, is this F&F Knitted Beanie with ears, which is a great way to throw in a bit of quirkiness into your everyday outfit!

Key Trends from London Fashion Week AW11

By Rochelle Symons in London Fashion Week, Trends on Friday 23rd September, 2011

It only seems like last week that we were announcing our sponsorship of London Fashion Week, and we’ve had a brilliant time at Somerset House this week watching all the Spring/Summer 2012 trends strut down the runway!

However, more importantly, Autumn/Winter 2011 has already arrived! So before you think about piecing together that all-important wardrobe, we thought we’d take a look back at the A/W11 trends that came hard and fast straight off the catwalks in February…

Colour Block

It may be the season for layering, but bright colours certainly haven’t gone into hibernation! Electric shades took fashionistas by surprise back in February, as they lit up the runways of Matthew Williamson and Roksanda Illinic. The key to working this trend is to focus on accessories – make sure these match your look by choosing the right colour to clash!

Colour Block

Amys of Paris Pleated Front Skater Dress – £30, F&F Limited Edition Reefer Coat – £45, F&F ¾ Length Sleeve Boat Neck Top – £6

60’s Chic

This Autumn/Winter, keep an eye out for structure – think 60’s inspired minimalist shift dresses in a mix of fabrics – as seen storming the catwalks of Burberry, Christopher Kane and Jonathan Saunders. This clean look is great for flattering your figure, and works effortlessly for any occasion!

60's Chic

F&F Limited Edition Colour Block Dress – £25, E1 London Lace Shift Dress – £35, F&F Limited Edition Stripy Jersey Wrap Dress – £22

Pretty Pleats

It seems the whole fashion world has gone crazy for pleats, and we’re not hiding the fact that we’ve fallen head over heels! Bora Aksu, DAKS, and Amanda Wakeley took full advantage of this tailored look, which ties in perfectly with the English Heritage trends that are due to be big this Autumn/Winter. Wear this trend in a more classic manner, with sheer blouses and quilted jackets.

Pretty Pleats

F&F Crepe Fitted Flare Skirt Dress – £25, F&F Knife Pleat Skirt – £16, F&F Belted Culottes – £20

Monochrome

Despite the AW11 collections being more colourful than previous seasons, Monochrome still managed to turn heads over at Somerset House. Seen at both Julien Macdonald and Giles, this trend is the perfect combination of dramatic impact and chic styling. Don’t be afraid to experiment with different textures and fabrics when piecing together this trend – the limited colour palette means that you can be a bit more playful!

Monochrome

F&F Pleat Front Top – £8, F&F Limited Edition Crochet Neckline Knitted Maxi Dress – £30, F&F Check Print Coat – £45

This week we’re loving this gorgeous ‘Freya’ dress. Frills, florals and floatyness were all over the Spring/Summer 2011 catwalks, and we reckon this is a great steal for just £30!

The midi-length and plaited belt make this dress úber trendy and easy to wear for any occasion. Dress down with wedges and a 70’s inspired floppy hat for a picnic, or pair with heels and an ‘up-do’ for special occasions.
