Get The Look: Pippa Middleton

By Ken Synnott in Get the look, Trends on Tuesday 3rd May, 2011

The long weekend might be over, but we just can’t seem to shake the Royal Wedding fever! From the beautiful ceremony and gorgeous styling, to the all-important celebrations – a great day was certainly had by all.

However whilst all eyes were on the happy couple, Kate’s younger sister Pippa also managed to steal a bit of the royal limelight. Walking up the aisle in a breathtaking floor length creation by Sarah Burton at Alexander McQueen, she quickly found herself the focus of the world’s gaze thanks to its elegant simplicity that seemed so fitting for the occasion.

And if you’d like to recreate Pippa’s ‘wow-factor’ look, we’ve got the perfect alternative. This fab dress by Ichi features the same cowl neck and capped sleeves that we loved on Pippa’s dress, whilst also being extremely versatile allowing you to dress it up or down depending on the occassion!

To dress it up we’d pair it with this cropped jacket which features lovely bow details, along with a pair of trusty slingback heels. But if you’d rather dress it down, why not wear it with a pair of these wedged sandals that have a great cut out detailing, and this chic neutral coloured cardigan!

Ichi Cowl Neck Dress – £18

Paris Fashion Week

Naomi Campbell Spotted at Paris Fashion Week

Regarded as one of the most stylish capitals of the world and the home of haute couture, Paris certainly takes its fashion very seriously and we’ve been keeping a sneaky eye on the runways of Paris Fashion Week.

With a long-standing reputation for churning out some of the most extravagant, luxurious, and decadent clothing to grace the fashion world, this season certainly didn’t fail to impress! From the gorgeous traditionally autumn palette used by Elie Saab, to the epitome of seventies chic from Chloe, style spotters were treated to great inspiration from all directions.

We also loved the dramatic atmosphere at the Chanel show, and thought Sarah Burton’s collection as creative director of Alexander McQueen paid the perfect tribute to the designer’s show stopping style.

Kate Moss And Jamie Hince Spotted At Paris Fashion Week

Of course, where the models walk, the celebs are sure to follow – and Paris Fashion Week certainly didn’t have a shortage of those! Louis Vuitton enlisted a veritable who’s who of the fashion world to walk their runway, including supermodel veteran’s Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell. Hollywood also made the trip across the pond with the likes of Katy Perry, Liv Tyler, and Emma Roberts all taking pride of place on the front row.

Lady Gaga At Paris Fashion Week

It seems as though a couple of the A-list weren’t too lucky, as we heard reports that Kanye West had being turned away from a number of top name shows. However, the show was truly stolen by Lady Gaga, as she made her catwalk debut for Mugler.

It has certainly been an action-packed week, and we expected nothing less from Fashion Week. After all, it’s barely two weeks since we saw our very own London Fashion Week draw to a close – be sure to check out the reports from the front row and highlights by our F&F team!

If you’re also thinking about your wardrobe for the upcoming season, don’t forget to check out our trend updates on the Clothing at Tesco website, where we’ve covered the new seventies trend and the re-emergence of florals!

Day One at London Fashion Week

By Natalie Theo in London Fashion Week, Womenswear on Friday 19th February, 2010

A tribute to Alexander McQueen; a gold brocade halterneck swing dress which reminded me of a modern day Marie-Antoinette, teemed with black thigh-high skintight leather legwarmers worn over tights, complete with a Dolly Parton soundtrack, opened London Fashion Week.

This was the first look to hit the catwalk at the jam-packed Paul Costelloe show in the glorious surrounds of Somerset House. Ok – it looks glorious from the outside, but inside the show venue, it’s more like sitting in a jeans, ankle boots and faux fur clad sardine can. A sardine can loaded with fashionistas armed to the hilt with digi-cams, Flip camcorders, tweeting, texting, blogging, live-streaming. Yes this is LFW in 2010.

The fashion high had already been set last night. Supermodel Naomi Campbell took to the catwalk in a flirty Alexander McQueen animalskin print dress and persuaded her friends such as Kate Moss, Vivienne Westwood and David Walliams to do the same to raise money for Haiti with her Fashion For Relief Charity. It was all about best fashion friends helping each other out this season. Kate’s Alexander McQueen dress was auctioned off for one hundred grand!! As much as I loved it I couldn’t match the bid. The PM’s wife, who looks dazzling in the flesh, flew the flag for British fashion wearing a great must-have little black Issa dress, and followed this with an Erdem dress (Britain’s answer to Lacroix) today.

After the whiplash of the LFW sardine can opener, for a little more of a serene and elegant experience, Maria Grachvogel hosted a chic show in the Palm Court of the Waldorf. Her brightly coloured seventies style long dresses dazzled a front row that included Yamsin le Bon and Erin ‘O Connor. What’s more it was good to see luscious deep colours.

“Did you do all of New York? Are you going to Milan? Do you have a ticket for Hakan?” were the most urgent fashion questions of the day. And if the word Hakan means absolutely zip to you, make a mental note to remember it. Because honestly all any fashionista actually wanted to know today was “are you going to Hakkan?”. The new hot designer on the block drew fashion friends Kate Moss and superchic Editor of French Vogue Carine Roitfeld to his front row and covergirl of the moment Lara Stone and face of YSL, Givenchy, Stella McCartney to name a few, supermodel Natalia Vodianova modelling in his debut show at LFW. Models looked like softer feminine versions of sci-fi nymphettes in feathered mini-skirts, pleated bodycon litlle-black dresses and rippled black leather leggings…so expect to hear and see more of Hakan…
