How to claim your free uniform:

Parents of children attending the school that won the competition will need to contact their school to pick up their voucher. The school must comply with the competition rules agreeing to sign up to the uniform embroidery service by sending a sample of their crest. The school will need to approve the embroidered schoolwear before issuing the vouchers. For schools that have broken up for the summer holidays, and which Clothing at Tesco are unable to contact, embroidered uniform vouchers will be issued in September.

Clothing at Tesco scores top marks for School Uniform!

By Rochelle Symons in Back To School, News on Tuesday 30th August, 2011

We’re delighted to announce that Clothing at Tesco have been awarded top marks for our school uniform against other stores by a couple of independent testers for The Sun newspaper, scoring a fab 5 out of 5 for quality and price, with the young testers (Finnbar, 5 and Scarlett, 7) “begging to take them home!”

But it’s not just the children who think we’re top of the pile. Back in July we went to visit some mums at Whitehill School to find out what they thought, and you can see their responses here.

With the new school term just around the corner it’s important their new uniform will last them through the year. Here at Tesco our uniforms are made to last and at a price that is second to none.

If you are still looking to get their new uniform, or need some last bits and pieces, you’ll be pleased to know that from today you can get free next day delivery on all Back To School items – just order by 3pm to receive it tomorrow.

Now back to arrangements for the final week of holiday…!

School Uniform Top Tips part 3!

By Chloe Tompkins in Back To School, Top Picks on Tuesday 26th July, 2011

Back To School

The school holidays have finally begun! And even though the kids were itching to run out of the school gates, we know that some mums are already thinking about the school uniform for next year. It’s no secret that shopping for schoolwear can sometimes be hit and miss, so this week we asked our mummy bloggers:

“When is the best time to shop for school uniform?”

Jo, who writes Jo Beaufoix says – “I’m finding some pretty good bargains at the moment, but otherwise a good time to shop for school uniform is September and October when the summer ‘back to school’ thing is coming to an end. If your little one is just starting school I’d say get them early as the smaller sizes tend to go quite quickly, but once you know what size and style suits your child you can buy for the next year too.”

Cathy, who writes NutureStore.co.uk says – “It’s a tricky balancing act between getting clothes the right size and avoiding a last minute panic. We always shop in the middle of the summer holiday and cross our fingers for no sudden growth spurts before term starts!”

Ella, who writes Notes From Home says – “I buy my uniform two or three weeks into the summer holiday and I buy it on the slightly big side. If I leave it any later to buy, I worry that it will all be gone. If I buy it any earlier, the chances are they will have grown out of it by the time terms starts in September!”

Amy, who writes And 1 more means four says – “I do it at the end of august when I buy the new school shoes.”

Kate, who writes The Five F’s blog says – “When there are in-store promotions. That tends to be earlier in the summer but I think you should try to get most of it by the end of July as some sizes sell out quickly, especially the smaller sizes where parents with children starting school in September tend to buy well in advance. I buy summer dresses for school as soon as I see them.”

Do you agree or disagree? Let us know what you think by posting your tips and comments!

School Uniform Top Tips part 2!

By Chloe Tompkins in Back To School, Top Picks on Monday 18th July, 2011

School Uniform

There’s that age old saying that ‘Mum always knows best’, and we certainly seem to think so! This is why we recently asked some of our favourite Mummy Bloggers to give us their best school uniform advice, so stay tuned as we’ll be posting their answers to our questions on the blog every week!

Previously, we asked our Mummy Bloggers to tell us “What is more important, quality or value, and why?”Click here to see what they said!

This week we’re asking…

“What is your top tip for taking care of / maintaining school uniform?”

Jo who writes Jo Beaufoix says – “Buy short sleeved shirts/blouses. When Miss E started school her cuffs were so stained we were replacing them within a month.  Short sleeves means they’re less likely to get covered in paint, baked beans and snot!”

Cathy, who writes NutureStore.co.uk says – “Put your child’s name in everything using a fabric pen (who’s got time to sew labels in?). I can guarantee my girls will lose at least one item of clothing and having everything clearly labelled means there’s much more chance of getting it back again.”

Ella, who writes Notes From Home says – “I always deal with stains the same day. And I wash their sweatshirts inside out to help the colour last longer. I always cut off loose threads too, otherwise I find they like to fiddle with them when they should be doing Maths and then they come home with the cuffs on their sweatshirts frayed beyond repair!”

Amy, who writes And 1 more means four says – “Use good quality washing powder/liquid.”

Kate, who writes The Five F’s blog says – “Act quickly when they get stains on uniform. Buy lots of stain remover and get it straight in the wash. If the stain doesn’t totally wash out, try to line dry on sunny days (which are rare here in Lancashire!) as that helps to fade stains!”

Do you agree? What would your top tip be?

Clothing at Tesco meets the parents…

By Ken Synnott in Back To School, News on Tuesday 12th July, 2011

Meet our class of 2011. Over a two week period the students of Whitehill School iin Hitchin in Hertfordshire have been road testing our school uniform. We asked a selection of parents to give us their views on our Back to School range. Check out the video below to hear what they had to say…

‘You Buy One, We Give One’

By Chloe Tompkins in Back To School, Childrenswear, News on Monday 20th June, 2011

If you like to do your bit for the community, you’ll love our ‘You Buy One, We Give One’ scheme. If you’ve never heard of the scheme, then the programme gives us the chance to give back to communities that are less fortunate then our own, in countries such as Kenya, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.

This year will be the third year that Tesco have supported this scheme, and all you have to do is purchase an item from our ‘You Buy One, We Give One’ range of schoolwear…

For every skirt, trouser or two pack of Fairtrade cotton polos, Tesco will donate a complete school uniform to a child in Kenya, Bangladesh or Sri Lanka. These are countries where school uniforms for British children are manufactured, and children in these countries who are not able to afford a uniform can sometimes miss out on the opportunity of an education.

Since the scheme started, Tesco have donated loads of school uniforms to children in need through this scheme. This year, Tesco are hoping to donate 100,000 uniforms, so get involved and help us beat that target!!
