Family adventure this Bank Holiday!

By Rochelle Symons in News on Wednesday 26th May, 2010

With all the sunshine, and a bank holiday looming, we have been thinking about getting out for some family fun! We wanted to share with you some of our top picks from around the country to give you some inspiration for the long weekend. If you have any plans or tips on where to go we would love to know!

This bank holiday weekend is part of National Family Week, so to celebrate on Monday, they’re hosting picnics all over the UK, so if you feel like a picnic in the park with a whole bunch of other families, take a look at the website and find an event near you.

If you’re quite an active family, who love to bond over outdoor activities, then an adventure course is just the thing for you! Located all over the country, these courses offer a great adventure for kids and adults. Check out this site for some outdoor activities that they offer… simulated parachute jumps, zip lines, climbing walls, abseiling, they have the lot!

If you are up in Manchester, you can wander down to Heaton Park to take advantage of the traditional family fun fair they have on until Sunday the 6th of June. The kids will be able to run riot!

But we are sure that no matter what you end up doing, you will have a great weekend spent with family!

May Day

By Rochelle Symons in News on Tuesday 27th April, 2010

This coming weekend (as I am sure you know) is a long one. It’s the weekend where we get to celebrate May Day, which to a lot of people, means one thing… Morris dancing, yes dig out those ‘belled’ shoes!

Hmm ok not for everyone? If you are looking for something a little different this year, what about some of these fabulous events happening around the country:

A truly magical event is taking place in London this weekend, with Kensington Palace being transformed into an Enchanted Palace by a theatre company in collaboration with fashion legends Vivienne Westwood, William Tempest and Stephen Jones. It centres around the theme of 7 princesses, all of whom have lived there. A fantastic mix of history and fairytale, this is a must-see.

If you fancy a trip to the coast, why not pop down to the Brighton Festival? Starting this Saturday, and running for most of the month, it’s a great event for the whole family. With both outdoor and indoor events, as well as theatre shows, exhibitions and movie screenings, this really is an entertaining and educational way to spend the weekend.

If you looking for something up North this bank holiday, there is a family fun weekend happening at Bury street railway station in Manchester. Over the weekend there will be a host of events including a magician, a circus workshop and of course lots of steam trains. Which is sure to be a great family day out!

There are loads of events happening all over the UK this weekend, what have you got planned? Will you be celebrating in a more traditional style? Will you be hanging out with your family? Will you be partying the weekend away? Do let us know…
