Festival attire goes tribal!

By This is Miss Laura in Trends, Womenswear on Monday 12th July, 2010

Tribal prints are definitely one of the prominent trends of summer 2010 and are also a huge look for summer festivals. So, if you’re still trying to plan your perfect festival outfit then luckily we are here to provide some tribal style inspiration!

If you think that tribal prints are restricted to dated black, brown and cream leopard print, think again, as for this season, we are seeing refreshing digital style tribal prints in addition to earthy, colourful and exotic prints that beautifully convey the essence of summer and look incredible as part of your festival outfit!

A great example which is perfect for a chic festival look and incorporates a striking tribal print is this F&F Tribal print bandeau style maxi dress. Comfortable yet flattering, team the dress with chunky jewellery, gladiator sandals and a pair of sleek aviator sunglasses and you’re good to go!

If you feel that the tribal print look is a little too bold for your style why not go for a statement but versatile tribal print accessory such as this F&F Tribal Print scarf.

Fusing an array of beautiful colours including black, grey, white, pink and purple, this is an ultra contemporary example of the tribal print trend and can be paired with a wide selection of pieces such as plain t-shirts, dresses or this season’s long or short jumpsuits. Adding stacked chunky bangles will also help to accentuate the tribal theme.

A small but substantially sized bag is essential for festivals and this striking F&F black and white Zebra print bag with a rope strap is an ideal accessory to jazz up a plain outfit and effectively adds a strong hint of the tribal print trend to your ensemble.

Tribal prints are a fabulous way of adding creativity and depth to your look and with the array of pieces and styles available you can be a bold or understated as you like. Festivals are the perfect opportunity to have fun and experiment with your style and for 2010, the tribal print trend is definitely the look to be channelling, in your own unique style.

A big thank you to Laura for putting this together for us, if you fancy reading more from her, check out her blog.

Festival Fashion by Wardrobe Mag

By Reena Rai in Get the look, Trends, Womenswear on Tuesday 1st June, 2010

Ok, so the great British weather isn’t always the most reliable thing, but one thing you can rely on this summer is some great trends, and what better place to rock out the newest fashions for 2010, than at a festival! The venue of choice for many an A list (and Z list) celeb, festivals are not only the best place to go for all the latest music, but also a chance to show off the latest fashions.

From solo starlets Pixie Lott and Lily Allen to models Kate Moss and Daisy Lowe, anyone who’s anyone will be out and about at one of the many events over the summer.

To make sure you stand out from the celebrity crowd, here are a few festival looks for under £50 as chosen by music and fashion lovers Chloe, Steph, Sunny and Bhavna from Wardrobe Mag blog that will make your festival frivolities even better.

Bring on the clothes and music (but no rain please)!

Chloe’s Festival Essentials:

When I saw Kate Bosworth in a cool crochet dress at Coachella this April, I knew I wanted to recreate the look for my summer festivals. The F&F Ladder Stitch vest top (was £10 now £7.50) is just long enough to act as a knitted mini dress, similar to Kate’s. Instead of opting for ankle boots, I instead chose some F&F black gladiator sandals (£12) to keep the look more summery (I’m being a little optimistic about the British summertime). Topped off with a F&F studded trilby (£5) to disguise any bad hair days and a F&F black studded straw bag (was £15 now £11.25) to hold festival essentials like beers and baby wipes, it’s the perfect festival outfit for a bargain price of £35.75!

Sunny’s Summer necessities:

My festival look is inspired by the Military trend, which is going to be even bigger come autumn/winter 2010. The ‘nations sweetheart’ Cheryl Cole was seen rocking this trend during Radio 1′s Big Weekend in Bangor a couple of weeks ago so if it’s good enough for her…! For my outfit I’ve picked an F&F khaki military t-shirt (£6.00) to wear with some F&F neutral canvas shorts (£6.00), a different alternative to the festival staple of denim shorts. Although wellington boots are essential for muddy festivals, these black F&F beaded cuff sandals (£15.00), which are also available in a tan colour, will give my outfit a glam edge. Studs are still bang on trend this season so this black F&F studded cross body bag (£10.00) is perfect for storing my camera and phone. At a total of £37 this military inspired outfit deserves a salute!

Steph’s Festival Fashion must haves:

For my festival outfit I’ve chosen the F&F Fringed t-shirt dress (£10), which will keep the look summery, but also add a bit of grunge with the black and fringing detail. The F&F High cuffed sandals (£10) will be great to add a bit of glamour to the look, keeping the Wellies on standby of course! The F&F cross body bag (£18) is the perfect place to keep all your camping essentials. This F&F trilby (£5) is a necessity to cover up ‘festival hair’ with the purple trim also adding a bit of colour to the outfit. I think this is a great festival outfit which can even be worn again on those upcoming summer holidays, and all for just £43!

Bhavna’s Festival Fashion:

For my festival look, I have picked out practical pieces, which will still keep me in line with the latest spring/summer trends. Hopefully where there’s a festival there will be sun, so this F&F striped crop top (£8) will keep me cool. The best thing about this crop top is that it’s nautical- a trend which never goes out of style. I’ve kept the rest of the look simple with a pair of staple denim shorts (F&F £12), F&F blue canvas deck shoes (£6) and an F&F cross body bag (£12) for all my essentials. A perfect nautical look to soak up the festival spirit this year at a total of £38!

Festival Fashion

So, the sun is slowly creeping out, skirts are getting shorter, days are getting longer…this can only mean one thing, festival season is almost here!

This also means that you get to start planning your festival outfits…cause we all know that even when we are covered in mud, you have to still be looking your best!

So here are a few of our must-have festival picks this season!

Firstly we have the almighty playsuit. Perfect for jumping around while still hanging onto your modesty, especially when you are sitting on top of your boyfriends shoulders to get a peek at the sexy drummer on stage. It’s also floral, so it ticks two trend boxes in one go!  Another drool worthy playsuit is this amazing denim one, which is only £9!

Another festival essential is a bag that is not big enough to impede your frenetic dancing, but roomy enough to fit in essentials like a camera, sun screen, cellphone, money and tissues. We think this Mischa Barton pyramid stud bag is perfect! Sling it across your chest and you are ready to go! It even has a drawstring for keeping all those essentials in place.

Last but not least, you have to consider footwear. A wrong shoe choice can spoil a whole weekend of festivities, so choose wisely! Boots are always a winner because they protect your feet from water, mud and from other people stepping on them! This season we are going to be rocking out with our F&F work boots on, we cant decide between a black pair or a natural pair, so we might have to get both! Also, you can never go wrong with a pair of wellies!

Here’s to a great festival season! Which festivals are you headed off to?
