Meet the ‘Freya’ dress

By Chloe Tompkins in Top Picks, Trends, Womenswear on Monday 13th June, 2011

This week we’re loving this gorgeous ‘Freya’ dress. Frills, florals and floatyness were all over the Spring/Summer 2011 catwalks, and we reckon this is a great steal for just £30!

The midi-length and plaited belt make this dress úber trendy and easy to wear for any occasion. Dress down with wedges and a 70’s inspired floppy hat for a picnic, or pair with heels and an ‘up-do’ for special occasions.

The Freya dress is in stock now and selling fast, so nab it while you can!

LFW Trend: Florals

By Rochelle Symons in Get the look, London Fashion Week, Trends on Thursday 24th February, 2011

London Fashion Week is almost over and we couldn’t let it end without covering another trend – and this one is just in time for Spring.

Florals are one of those trends generations have loved so much, that many can now be defined by an era – think of floral 40’s tea dresses. This year would not be without them and we saw floral prints all over Somerset House during Fashion Week.

A couple of our favourite Street Style snaps from London Fashion Week:

Clashing prints: Leopard print, fur with a granny-chic rucksack.   Bright, shiny, large flower print coat.

Why not try out the trend yourself and put a spring back in your step with our something from our floral collection shown below? And remember to check out our London Fashion Week blog gallery for more fabulously individual and inspiring street-style direct from London Fashion Week!

We were lucky enough to jet off to South Africa last week for 6 days of sun, sea and sand while we shot our high summer clothing campaign in Cape Town.

Lucky devils you might think, unfortunately most of the team were ill for the whole time! Not to put a damper on it, we had a great time all the same and everyone chirped up. Or should I say ‘had to’ when 196 children turned up for our casting all wanting to appear in the shoot.

Here is a sneak peak of one of the photos from the shoot.

We think you are going to love the photos and clothes from this shoot, it features lots of zingy colours, dazzling stripes, pretty florals and graphic prints. All perfect for summer!

Oh, and how could I forget to mention we saw Annie Lennox on our flight! Star struck you might say, although she is a lot smaller in real life than you might think.

If you haven’t heard about the blog What Katie Wore, then where have you been? The concept behind it is fantastic! Portobello Road Street Style

By Jennifer Barton in Street Style on Monday 22nd March, 2010

If you’re in need of some stylish inspiration, look no further than London’s Portobello Road. Not only are there amazing vintage finds and jewellery stalls every few steps, but the fashion parade of stylish Londoners makes for a fabulous afternoon of people-watching and trend-spotting.

The cute girls shopping and browsing this afternoon had on lots of spring’s key trends like floral prints, lace and rock-chick style, seen on everything from studded accessories to tough-looking boots and jackets. We love how these girls put their individual spin on the trends – adding a burst of colour to an all-black outfit with a scarf or toughening up funky florals with a leather bomber (or giving them a preppy edge with a hunting jacket). Not even the occasional drizzle of rain could stand in their way!

Maybe we’ll snap a shot of you next time we’re in the neighbourhood…until then, happy shopping!

Reena’s Top Picks

By Reena Rai in Top Picks, Womenswear on Tuesday 16th March, 2010

This Winter has lasted an eternity, hasn’t it? I feel like I’ve been wearing heavy fabrics and black forever. With the sun making a long overdue return, I’m ready to shed the layers and swathes of black in favour of brights, pastels, florals and lace. Here are my top five picks to help you make the seamless transition to Spring:

F&F Floral Sundress

This is one of the cutest sundresses I’ve seen! It’s absolutely adorable and would look equally good with some pretty ballerina flats or heels.

Liquorish Sequin Shoulder Dress

This gorgeous little dress ticks three style boxes in one, talk about multi-tasking! Sparkles, hot pink and shoulders are three trends worth working this Spring and this dress incorporates all of them effortlessly.

F&F Lace crop top

I’m loving lace at the moment. Lace in pastel shades can sometimes look a little saccharine and sweet, I much prefer black. Team it with something colourful to keep it fresh.

F&F Crochet vest top

I love a simple shape with a twist, the crochet gives this top a twist and the nude peach colour was seen all over catwalks for Spring.

Mischa Barton Doctor’s Bag

Don’t forget to invest in a new bag to welcome in the new season. This little bag by Mischa Barton is absolutely perfect for Spring, large enough for your daytime essentials but uber-chic.

Trend Alert: Florals

By Jill Marshall in Trends, Womenswear on Tuesday 2nd March, 2010

A huge trend for this coming Spring/Summer is florals! Think summer meadows filled with big flowers and bright colours.  They’ve already been widely featured on the catwalks of fashion designers Cavalli and Luella, and have celebrity fans from Alexa Chung to GMTV favourite Lorraine Kelly.

This trend is set to grow faster than the weeds in your garden over the summer, with brighter designs and floatier fabrics emerging.  But for now, it’s best to stick to darker florals on thicker fabrics to infuse your wardrobe during early Spring days – we don’t advise you get carried away too far out of summer!

From sundresses to everyday tops, you can work a floral piece into your everyday wear sparingly or in fully force.  And of course we can help with this! We have a great range of floral jersey dresses and cute tube skirts, you can team these up with a denim shirt or jeggings to give you a splash of colour.

But an important thing to remember is that you are not a flower! So head to toe floral is never going to work.   A great way to get started with this trend is to introduce a ‘statement’ piece, like a floral skirt and match it with a plain T-shirt.  Or wear a floral summer dress with a bold, coloured cardy to tone down the look. If you’re looking for an edgier look you can always team up your floral dress with some workman boots or a leather jacket.

Like the sound of this trend?  If so, check out our floral range, and let us know you own tips for channeling flower-power this summer?
