Buyer’s pick courtesy of Lizzie!

By The Buying Team in Top Picks, Trends, Womenswear on Wednesday 7th July, 2010

Hi, I’m Lizzie, one of the buyers here at Tesco. As a buyer my job entails sourcing the right products, at the right time, and at the right prices for you!

I look at key trends, fabrics, prints and colours, making sure we get the best pieces instore and online for you, our customers.

Lets talk trends…Prints are always a key trend for Spring/Summer, nothing says summer like patterns and prints, and it’s an ideal way to show off your tan! Floral prints were heavily featured on the runway this year, especially during Milan Fashion Week. If you like earthy tones and exotic influences then this trend is the one is for you. Tribal prints are very big currently with their colour and  fun nature they’re very wearable. If you needed any more convincing, the late Alexander McQueen had a beautiful, futuristic print-heavy collection for Summer which proves that prints are one look too hot to miss this summer. But remember, this doesn’t mean you need to wear prints head to toe. Work them in to your wardrobe subtly with a floral cardigan or tribal summer dress.

In honour of all things print, here are my top 5 picks from the site:

A day at the races!

By Rochelle Symons in Get the look, Menswear, Trends, Womenswear on Wednesday 16th June, 2010

This weekend brings one of the most anticipated fashion occasions of the summer season, Ascot. Everyone is there, strutting their stuff in their best frocks and suits, and generally looking great. But there is no need to break the bank to get a gorgeous outfit for the day…so if you are looking for something a bit easier on the budget, here are our top 4 outfit picks for this weekend.

F&F Couture multi layered dress, F&F snake print sandal, F&F studded clutch bag

This is a great summer look, and will leave you looking fresh as a daisy all day! The dress is also very versatile, and can be worn again and again, dressed up or down. For inspiration, have a look at how Katie wears it on What Katie Wore.

Urban Resistance suit trousers, Urban Resistance suit jacket, F&F suit and tie set

For the men, nothing oozes sophistication like a good pinstripe suit. We would complement the grey with the purple shirt and pink tie, giving it a bit of pizzazz for the occasion.

F&F Trend floral print shift dress, F&F cross body bag, F&F snake print sandal

This is such a great, playful look, with great contrast between the graphic print and snakeskin shoes, adding some great depth to the outfit. Then lighten it up with the pale bag, and you have yourself a winner!

F&F linen blend jacket, Urban Resistance formal shirt, F&F jacquard print tie, F&F linen blend trousers

We love this cream look on the guys, it’s really stylish and will set them apart in a sea of dark suits. The jacquard print tie is also really great, and a firm favourite within the team.

We hope we have given you some inspiration for this weekend, and if you are going to Ascot, let us know how it was!

We were lucky enough to jet off to South Africa last week for 6 days of sun, sea and sand while we shot our high summer clothing campaign in Cape Town.

Lucky devils you might think, unfortunately most of the team were ill for the whole time! Not to put a damper on it, we had a great time all the same and everyone chirped up. Or should I say ‘had to’ when 196 children turned up for our casting all wanting to appear in the shoot.

Here is a sneak peak of one of the photos from the shoot.

We think you are going to love the photos and clothes from this shoot, it features lots of zingy colours, dazzling stripes, pretty florals and graphic prints. All perfect for summer!

Oh, and how could I forget to mention we saw Annie Lennox on our flight! Star struck you might say, although she is a lot smaller in real life than you might think.
