By Chloe Tompkins in Get the look, Menswear, Trends on Tuesday 2nd August, 2011

From checks to chinos, and stripes to selvedge, the guy’s certainly aren’t short of style inspiration at Clothing at Tesco! However with so many trends out there, it’s no secret that picking the key additions to your wardrobe can sometimes be a tricky affair.

If you or that special guy in your life is in a bit of a trend muddle, always remember our top tip – try it on! It’s always a good idea to try new items on with your existing wardrobe, as there’s nothing worse than having that bang on trend item and nothing to wear it with! We’ve now also made it even easier to do this, with free returns by post or to a store.

To whet your appetite in the meantime, check out the key trends from our collection to give you a bit of a headstart! Be sure to let us know which items you have your eye on, and how you would style them!

Show Us Your Stripes

Look sharp with this Nordic inspired outfit! The clean lines of the F&F Breton Stripe Jumper (£12) and dapper cut of the F&F slim fit chinos (£16) make a great combo, which is balanced out by these casual F&F Canvas Baseball Shoes (£12) for an effortlessly cool look!

One For Everyday

This is a great smart casual look, which will see you nicely through whatever your day has lined up! Check shirts are a staple of any man’s wardrobe and this F&F wide check shirt (£13) is a great addition. Wear it with these smart F&F selvedge denim jeans (£25) and F&F canvas plimsolls (£12) to complete the look.

Down By The Sea

The nautical trend seems to make its way back season after season, and we certainly have no complaints! A key colour in this trend is blue and white, and this F&F Stripe Print Polo (£12) would look great with a pair of Ambrose Shorts (£12) and these F&F Camouflage Print Flip Flops (£5)

Behind the scenes of our menswear shoot

By Ken Synnott in Behind the scenes, Menswear on Monday 5th July, 2010

Last week we were busy shooting our menswear collection for Autumn/Winter, and we thought we would give you a sneak peek of what was going on behind the scenes.

We gave you a look at some of the range at the press day in May, and the menswear team have been hard at work since, including a long day on this shoot!

There was also some excitement, as the team spotted the Queen of Pop coming into the studio as they were on their way out. Perhaps she is a material girl after all…

Menswear Spring/Summer 2011

By Reena Rai in Menswear on Thursday 24th June, 2010

With all this football talk over the last week or so, we’ve barely had a chance to mention Menswear Fashion Week in Milan. The likes of Roberto Cavalli and Vivienne Westwood have had such inspirational catwalk shows, giving us a sneak peek into what style conscious men will be wearing next summer. It all kicked off last Saturday with Dolce & Gabbana, who were celebrating their 20th anniversary in Menswear. With so many gorgeous menswear looks – and models – on the catwalk we were spoilt for choice, but our firm favourite in the office was Versace.

Inspired by their archives and photography by renowned fashion photographer Bruce Weber, the collection has a definite Eighties vibe. We loved the new suit silhouette, which was very fitted with slightly shortened sleeves and trousers rolled up at the ankle. As well as sleek and sophisticated suits, they also had some more casual, rockabilly-inspired looks with fringed leather and plaid shirts. The collection featured a lot of black but with splashes of white, aqua blue, pink and red which are refreshingly summery.

Here are some staple pieces you can use to achieve this look at an affordable price:

F&F check shirt, F&F shirt & tie set, Urban Resistance suit jacket, Urban Resistance suit trousers, Urban Resistance grey suit trousers

Invest in a dark navy suit, that you can wear with a contrasting collar shirt. You can also mix the jacket with a lighter shade of trousers, and for days when you don’t need a formal jacket, pair the lighter trousers with a checked shirt.

You don’t need to spend a million to look like a million dollars…

Everyone loves a man in a good suit. It’s a fact. (well, at least in our opinion).

So that’s why we’ve decided to feature some of our lovely men’s suits on the blog. We know you ladies love to get your men looking their best, so we are happy to help in whatever way possible! Be it for a wedding this summer or their everyday job, there is something for everyone.

First up we have an F&F pinstripe jacket that is just £35, then an Urban Resistance suit jacket for £69. Followed by an F&F herringbone jacket for £35, and last but not least an F&F neutral suit jacket for £35.  We have lots more pieces online, as well as matching trousers, so we’re sure there is something for every occasion in the range.

The key to wearing a suit well, is in choosing the right one. There are many things to look for including getting the right fit and shape as well as the right colour, these tips from Ape To Gentleman (a great blog about male grooming) are a good reference. It also includes general grooming tips for every man…

Are you off to a wedding this summer? If so, do let us know what you wore and help inspire the masses looking for the right wedding day outfit.

Menswear Street Style

By Vanessa Jackman in Menswear, Street Style on Thursday 4th March, 2010

For the boys at LFW the trench was still a very strong trend (as such a classic, elegant piece should be), as is the skinny jean, hooded coats and jackets, bowties, army-surplus type lace-up boots, vintage coats, cardigans and immaculate Savile Row tailoring.

It was very, very wet, and very, very cold but somehow the fashion pack still managed to dazzle in the style stakes at the London Fashion Week A/W 2010 collections.

After a slowish start on Friday (with the exception of the Hakaan show which had celebrities and fashion royalty packing both the front row and the runway), the off-runway action picked up on Saturday when some of London’s brightest young fashion stars held their shows. Mark Fast, Topshop’s Unique collection and House of Holland were all drawcards for the local and international fashion crowd who didn’t let the teensy fact that it was the weekend stop them from wearing sky-high heels, enormous fur coats and skin-tight leather. And it just got better and better from there on in.

My camera and I had trouble keeping up! And this season it wasn’t just the girls who looked completely fabulous, the boys were just as stylish. I really think that winter allows men’s style to shine, perhaps as it lends itself to beautiful fitted coats, and accessories like hats, scarves and gloves, all of which can take an outfit from nice to WOW!

Hottest fashion accessory of the week? The Umbrella (although I did spot numerous improvisations being used as protection from the rain including newspapers, magazines, handbags and scarves-you have to work with what you’ve got, no?!).

I’m off to Paris for the collections later this week-I will be keen to see if the trends I spotted in London carry through to Paris.

Wish me and my camera luck xx
