I’ve enlisted the help of my lovely mum Oonagh (26 years of motherhood and 4 kids makes her well qualified) to share with us some of her back to school tips:
Another school term is fast approaching and while this new start can be very exciting for the kids it can prove a little stressful for the adults not least because of the back to school shopping rush. Preparation is key, so kit them out now, and you can sit back, relax and enjoy the rest of your break.
1. Make a list
It’s worth checking whether your child’s school has a uniform list, so you know exactly what they’ll need saving you a lot of time and money.
Generally speaking the following minimum usually does the trick: 3 shirts or blouses to allow one on, one in the wash and a spare, 2 sweatshirts or jumpers, 2 trousers or skirts.

2. Be sure on sizing
When uniform shopping for your children buy for their height rather than their age.

3. Buy uniform in one go
This idea might seem like a big old job, as it’s an expensive business and it’s often the last thing your children want to do, but it means you can try everything on together to make sure jackets and coats fit over the rest of the uniform, and trousers sit well with shoes.
4. Label it
You know what kids are like – things are easily left on the bus, lost on playing fields, or mistakenly taken from the cloakroom. Make sure you label everything to aid a safe return for any misplaced items.
