London Fashion Week round-up

By Ken Synnott in London Fashion Week Daily Roundups on Wednesday 21st September, 2011

So here I am, waiting for the final call for my first-class flight to Milan for fashion week, but I didn’t want to leave London without giving you my spin on the trends that emerged for next spring at London Fashion Week over the past few days. So here goes…

The hot pink cocktail dress: wow dressing at its simplest and best.

Floral prints: big and small on skirts, blouses, t-shirts, trousers, you name it.

Cardigans: printed, beaded and patterned, it’s the new season jacket.

Tropical colour: kingfisher blue, Jaffa orange or sunshine yellow, pick any hue so long as it pops.

Wedges:still the shoe of choice for summer. Phew!

And the things I’ll treasure…

Best goodie-bag treat: BaByliss straightening irons at Henry Holland.

Most starstruck moment: Beyoncé taking a bow at House of Deréon.

Most stylish celebrity front rowers: Kate Moss, Sienna Miller, Gemma Arterton, Romola Garai, Kanye West, Pixie Geldof, Paloma Faith, Ellie Goulding, Eliza Doolittle, Olivia Palermo.

Until next season, this is Fashion Dahling en route to Prada in Milano, not just reporting, but shopping on fashion’s front line.

London Fashion Week – day five

By Ken Synnott in London Fashion Week Daily Roundups on Wednesday 21st September, 2011

The party began even before the shows had finished. In fact, the party took to the runway at Meadham Kirchhoff. Front row, watching a riot of Courtney Love lookey-likey cancanning dancers and tweeny, deeley-bopper-bedecked ballerinas, US Vogue editor Anna Wintour, aka Nuclear Wintour, the most powerful woman in fashion and the inspiration behind The Devil Wears Prada, sat stoney faced. But surely no flippertigibbet model would dare cross the path of She Who Must Be Obeyed. Well, no one told one model, who lifted her skirt and flashed her knickers at the Ice Queen. Did she melt? You’ll have to watch YouTube to find out.

And so, as the womenswear shows end at London Fashion Week, I’m taking my high-heeled self off for a moment of barefoot downtime, before taking my plane to Milan for fashion week, Italian style. I’ll send you my round-up of the London trends to trot and the ones to drop direct from the first-class lounge at Heathrow tomorrow. Until then, sleep tight.

London Fashion Week – Day Two

By Ken Synnott in London Fashion Week Daily Roundups on Sunday 18th September, 2011

A day is a long time in fashion. Only yesterday I was telling you about the trend for fluoro bright flashes. And today?  Well, the canny front row fash pack were already rocking the look. Me included.

Anyway, today’s style crib notes: printed silk jogging pants are the new trousers to work. After all we may as well be stylish when we slob out. Elsewhere, the body con dress is still with us. Just as well as fashion dahling joined Beyonce and her mum at a party to celebrate the launch of their collection, House of Deréon. Working this season’s androgynous trend in a black sequined tuxe suit, hand-in-hand with her mum, Beyonce looked babylicious!

But fashion never stops. Mad dash on to Roberto Cavalli’s glitzy A-list bash at the Battersea Power Station. Reclining on sumptuous animal print floor cushions and sipping the multimillionaire Italian designer’s special blended cocktails  with supermodel Eva Herzigova, X Factor’s Cher Lloyd and style icon Bianca Jagger, it was the perfect end to a fashion fabulous day.

This is fashion dahling, reporting from fashion’s front line, Somerset House, London, off to put up my high-heeled feet for the night.
