Here at Clothing at Tesco HQ we are really excited about our new online boutique on tesco.com/clothing , Style Showroom. I was lucky enough to catch up with the founder, Debi Carter, a few weeks ago, and got an exclusive interview for you all to enjoy!
KS: Why did you set up Style Showroom and when?
DC: I knew such an great group of independent designers that I was working with and there were lots more approaching me each with their own unique identity. I thought putting them all under one roof in a showroom type concept would be exciting and to showcase them in London’s fashionable Carnaby Street, even more exciting. After months of planning Style Showroom opened in August this year.
KS: Why work with tesco.com/clothing?
DC: Tesco being the huge enterprise that it is, I felt it hadn’t fully maximised on the potential of showing independent designers. I was excited when the site launched last year and had been monitoring it. I felt it would be amazing if Tesco could have style showroom online, showing small designers ,giving the customer lots of choice like a small boutique.
KS: Tell us a bit about the designers you have chosen for the launch?
DC: Designers I have chosen for launch each offer something different from the cute very girly
Angel Eye to the sporty STORY OF LOLA and the very directional Mags & Pye. It’s hard to choose a favourite really as all offer their own unique style however I do have a weakness for the Diva Dresses, with names like Giselle, Carla. They are truly are like chocolate very addictive!
KS: Tell us a bit about your own personal style?
DC: My style I love of course to be individual and I constantly mix up brands, and when your seeing new pieces all the time, its hard to resist them. I do however love the 40’s and 50’s style so iconic and so feminine and glamourous.
KS: Tell us a bit about your background?
DC: My background is in buying and for the past five years i have worked closely with small independent designers on brand development and representation. I love what I do and have a real passion for fashion.
Nothing gives me greater pleasure than helping these brands then watching them grow and develop.
My aim is for Style Showroom to be like a personal shopper for everyone, a mini oasis of designers all under roof. Constantly evolving and growing with regular newness. That’s the beauty, of small brands, they are not just seasonal. The designers are constantly designing new products.
So there you have it! If you want to see what lovely things you can grab, head over to the Style Showroom section on the site….
