Summer Tops

By Ken Synnott in Womenswear on Wednesday 9th June, 2010

Despite the rain trying to convince us otherwise, we are firmly on course for a hot hot summer! (We think..) Anyway everyone has that moment at the start of summer when you think ‘omg, I don’t have any summer clothes!’

So with that in mind, we have picked out a few fabulous summer tops to ease your outfits into summer. Seen, as the weather can’t decide what it is doing at the moment… these tops will keep you cool when the sun is out and still work with a cardigan when the weather is less predictable.

This F&F ruffle frill top featured above, is light and airy perfect for the ‘close’ weather currently.

For a sleeveless top you can wear to work, how about this F&F zebra stripe top. Very colourful! Its bound to brighten up your office.

For casual days and weekends this F&F graphic print t-shirt is great. With a handkerchief hem, it looks great with jeans, shorts and leggings. Very casual chic!

Lastly, something dressy… we recommend this F&F tie-dyed top. It’s got some volume to it and detailed embellishment on the collar. Team it with killer heels and some smoky eyes, and you’re good to go!

Hope these help!

Girls Fashion

By Rochelle Symons in Childrenswear on Thursday 3rd June, 2010

It’s summertime, which means lazy days in the park, and lots of quality time with the kids!

A really cute little dress caught our eye earlier today, which you may have noticed us mention on twitter. There were so many others, that we thought we would pick out some of the best, because let’s face it, is there anything cuter than a little girl in a floral dress? We thought not!

Get your baby girl set for summer with one of these sets:

Cherokee two-piece dungaree set, Cherokee 2 piece pinny set, Cherokee 3 piece dress set

Dungarees are great for the little girl who loves to explore, they also come with a trendy matching t-shirt, and pockets for her to hide things in! We think the pinny is simply the cutest! Perfect for parties and special occasions and light enough to keep your baby cool on these hot summer days. The tiered dress comes with a little matching headband and frilled bloomers, great for days out with grandma!

We also have a range of summer wear for when she gets a little bit older and is ready to explore…

F&F printed dress, Cherokee floral playsuit, F&F tiered sundress

All three of these are really on trend and perfect for the summer! We love the print on the first dress, and the playsuit. As for the tiered dress, the flower detail only adds to the princess feel!

What items do your little ladies just have to have this season?

Festival Fashion by Wardrobe Mag

By Reena Rai in Get the look, Trends, Womenswear on Tuesday 1st June, 2010

Ok, so the great British weather isn’t always the most reliable thing, but one thing you can rely on this summer is some great trends, and what better place to rock out the newest fashions for 2010, than at a festival! The venue of choice for many an A list (and Z list) celeb, festivals are not only the best place to go for all the latest music, but also a chance to show off the latest fashions.

From solo starlets Pixie Lott and Lily Allen to models Kate Moss and Daisy Lowe, anyone who’s anyone will be out and about at one of the many events over the summer.

To make sure you stand out from the celebrity crowd, here are a few festival looks for under £50 as chosen by music and fashion lovers Chloe, Steph, Sunny and Bhavna from Wardrobe Mag blog that will make your festival frivolities even better.

Bring on the clothes and music (but no rain please)!

Chloe’s Festival Essentials:

When I saw Kate Bosworth in a cool crochet dress at Coachella this April, I knew I wanted to recreate the look for my summer festivals. The F&F Ladder Stitch vest top (was £10 now £7.50) is just long enough to act as a knitted mini dress, similar to Kate’s. Instead of opting for ankle boots, I instead chose some F&F black gladiator sandals (£12) to keep the look more summery (I’m being a little optimistic about the British summertime). Topped off with a F&F studded trilby (£5) to disguise any bad hair days and a F&F black studded straw bag (was £15 now £11.25) to hold festival essentials like beers and baby wipes, it’s the perfect festival outfit for a bargain price of £35.75!

Sunny’s Summer necessities:

My festival look is inspired by the Military trend, which is going to be even bigger come autumn/winter 2010. The ‘nations sweetheart’ Cheryl Cole was seen rocking this trend during Radio 1′s Big Weekend in Bangor a couple of weeks ago so if it’s good enough for her…! For my outfit I’ve picked an F&F khaki military t-shirt (£6.00) to wear with some F&F neutral canvas shorts (£6.00), a different alternative to the festival staple of denim shorts. Although wellington boots are essential for muddy festivals, these black F&F beaded cuff sandals (£15.00), which are also available in a tan colour, will give my outfit a glam edge. Studs are still bang on trend this season so this black F&F studded cross body bag (£10.00) is perfect for storing my camera and phone. At a total of £37 this military inspired outfit deserves a salute!

Steph’s Festival Fashion must haves:

For my festival outfit I’ve chosen the F&F Fringed t-shirt dress (£10), which will keep the look summery, but also add a bit of grunge with the black and fringing detail. The F&F High cuffed sandals (£10) will be great to add a bit of glamour to the look, keeping the Wellies on standby of course! The F&F cross body bag (£18) is the perfect place to keep all your camping essentials. This F&F trilby (£5) is a necessity to cover up ‘festival hair’ with the purple trim also adding a bit of colour to the outfit. I think this is a great festival outfit which can even be worn again on those upcoming summer holidays, and all for just £43!

Bhavna’s Festival Fashion:

For my festival look, I have picked out practical pieces, which will still keep me in line with the latest spring/summer trends. Hopefully where there’s a festival there will be sun, so this F&F striped crop top (£8) will keep me cool. The best thing about this crop top is that it’s nautical- a trend which never goes out of style. I’ve kept the rest of the look simple with a pair of staple denim shorts (F&F £12), F&F blue canvas deck shoes (£6) and an F&F cross body bag (£12) for all my essentials. A perfect nautical look to soak up the festival spirit this year at a total of £38!

Ruby Rocks is here!

By Rochelle Symons in News, Womenswear on Monday 31st May, 2010

If you a regular visitor to the site, you will have noticed a new addition to our fantastic brands selection, Ruby Rocks the range joins our other great brands that include Mischa Barton, By Caprice, From Somewhere, Diamond Boutique, Cherokee and of course, F&F.

Ruby Rocks is a new label, who describe themselves as feminine but with a street edge. It’s a fun brand with pieces that combine a feminine and urban balance. They use strong graphics and bold colours, so you wont be blending into the background!

Ruby Rocks have some great summery pieces that are both colourful and floaty! We love these two lovely dresses, the first is floral wrap dress, and the other is a lovely spotted dress.

They also have a range of kaftans that are pretty as a peach! Kaftans are great at hiding a multitude of sins, and also for slipping on over a bikini. Versatile and beautiful, every woman should own one! The first one here is a Ruby Rocks kaftan dress, and the second is a Ruby Rocks sequined kaftan.

The line also has the one of this summer’s must have pieces, the maxi dress!

Wedding Fashion

By Rochelle Symons in Get the look, Womenswear on Monday 17th May, 2010

Summer is here (well sort of), and wedding season is now truly upon us! We know how much of a difficult task it is to find the right dress for a wedding, whilst not wanting to upstage the bride. So we have put together a list of dresses that are perfect for summer weddings to give you some inspiration.

One of the main rules at a wedding is not to wear white, there are plenty of other colours to choose from! It is also best to steer clear of anything too sparkly for a day wedding, save the sparkles for the evening ‘do’.

Firstly, lets look at a day wedding. Here are two dresses, the first one is a bit more casual, but would look lovely dressed up with heels. The second dress is for a more formal wedding, both have quite graphic prints, and will dazzle in the sunshine!

F&F floral shift dress, F&F one shoulder dress

Another tip for weddings is only wear black for an evening wedding. This outfit comes from our True range, and includes a flattering top with a pencil skirt. Brighten it up with some bold jewellery or statement heels and you are good to go!

F&F True panelled top, F&F True pencil skirt

For evening weddings, we have picked two dresses. The first one is for a more formal event, while the second one can be dressed up or down, depending on your accessories.

F&F spot print puff ball dress, F&F tulip dress

Lastly, if your there all day straight through until the evening these two lovely dresses are perfect! Both in the hottest shade of the season – pastel. The cut is timeless, team with a blazer and hat for during the day, then take them off in the evening for the party.

F&F brocade dress, F&F lantern dress

Are you off to a wedding this year? What will you be wearing?

The Ultimate Guide to Wearing Shorts

By Rochelle Symons in Trends, Womenswear on Thursday 13th May, 2010

To prepare you for summer we have put together a guide to wearing shorts! Shorts are a very versatile wardrobe must have, so to inspire you we have taken 5 very different styles, which fit a range of shapes and sizes and worked the trend so you can try it out for yourself at home.

From the wild west to the farm, denim shorts are truly a wardrobe staple. They come round every season, so its worth investing in a pair. We have chosen this slightly longer style, with a light fade, which is perfect if you don’t want to show off too much leg. Will Smith’s wife and actress Jada Pinkett-Smith shows us how to rock this look with a simple white vest and statement heels!

Items: Denim shorts, Strappy shoe boots, Longline vest

Combining two big trends this season floral and shorts. Jen at Little Bird Fashion, has recently featured these shorts on her blog, so why not take a look at how she styled them for a little more inspiration.

For those days when it’s a bit to chilly to go bare legged, she shows us how great tights look under shorts. To get this look throw on a black top and team with a super cute cardigan!

Items: Floral shorts, black puff sleeved top, gathered sleeve cardigan

If you are all about comfort, you will probably love wearing cycling shorts this season. And no, no actual cycling is necessary! Most of you might recoil in horror at this suggestion, but take a look at how it’s styled by this lady. Gorgeous no? As we said, this look is comfortable and casual, all you need is the right accessories!

Items: Grey cycling shorts, striped t-shirt, denim jacket

For those who want a slightly more formal look, these brocade shorts may be the answer you are looking for! Alexa Chung works it well with a slouchy black top & blazer, and strappy sandals.

Items: Brocade shorts, handkerchief hem top, boyfriend jacket

A look that is quite hard to pull off is one that includes white shorts. Not everyone can look like an Olsen twin, but at least we can try! Team your white shorts with a casual jumper and heels for a look that is effortlessly chic.

Items: White high waisted shorts, ladder stitch jumper and strappy shoe boots

So what shorts style are you going to be wearing this season?
