Our Royal Wedding Look-a-likes Part 2!

By Ken Synnott in Competitions, Get the look on Thursday 5th May, 2011

We received some brilliant entries last week’s Royal Wedding outfit look-a-like Twitter competition, and it certainly seems like a fair few of you have quite an eye for style! We announced the first five winners in yesterday’s blog post, and now it’s time to reveal the next five look-a-like outfit winners – read on to find out who pick what…

Kitty Spencer

This F&F Limited Edition Seamed Tailored Ponte Dress features a similar plunging neckline and figure-hugging shape to Lady Kitty Spencer’s flesh coloured Victoria Beckham dress – thanks to @Gemx for sending this to us!

The Queen

Her Majesty looked positively radiant in a bright yellow Angela Kelly crepe wool dress, and this F&F Waffle Knit Dress submitted by @julescomps is equally as vibrant, with a very chic cut to match.

Bridesmaids

Of course, no wedding would be complete without the bridesmaids to accompany the bride, and they looked absolutely adorable in handmade dresses designed by Nicki Macfarlane. @keengirl seems to have found a gorgeous match with the F&F Corsage Sash Bridesmaid Dress, which features the same classic shape and detailing at the waist.

Tara Palmer Tompkinson

Tara Palmer Tompkinson certainly didn’t fail to turn heads when she arrived at Westminster Abbey, wearing an eye catching electric blue dress by Deborah Milner. If you’d like a dress that is equally as show stopping, this Diva Side Zip Dress will give you the same curve hugging effect.

Prince Harry

It seems that a few of you were not only style spotting the ladies at the Royal Wedding, but the gents too! @GIRLYOUGOTSTYLE suggested that the F&F Limited Edition Military Coat was a great female version of Prince Harry’s cavalry uniform, for those of you looking for an outfit with a bit of edge!

Congratulations again to all of our Royal Wedding outfit look-a-like winners!

Our Royal Wedding Look-a-likes!

By Ken Synnott in Competitions, Get the look on Wednesday 4th May, 2011

We weren’t surprised to see each of the Royal Wedding guests pull out all the stops last Friday, and everyone was certainly dressed to the nines! From the sharp tuxes, dramatic draped fabrics, and stunning tailored cuts, we had a brilliant time style spotting them all!

It also seems like a lot of you had your eyes on the outfits too, as we received some brilliant entries in our Royal Wedding outfit look-a-like competition on our Twitter page! We simply asked all of our followers to pick a guest’s outfit from the wedding and send us a look-a-like item from the Clothing at Tesco range, for their chance to win that item.

It was particularly difficult to choose, but after much deliberation, we managed to whittle them down to ten winners. Check out the first five winners below, and stay tuned as we reveal the next five winners on the blog tomorrow!

Joss wore this very vibrant pink shift dress from Hobbs, and @KJaybaby1 rightly pointed out the similarities with the 18 And East Strappy Back Dress, which has the same fabulously bright colour and fitted cut.

Frances Osborne

We loved the simplicity of Frances Osborne’s grey fitted dress, and this F&F Limited Edition Knitted Dress features the same long sleeves and block colour – thanks to @Welshbybirth for sending us this one.

Princess Beatrice

Princess Beatrice’s outfit might be remembered more for the Philip Treacy hat, but the nude coloured Valentino couture coat she wore was simply stunning. We loved this entry from @kazautomatic who suggested that she could have actually been wearing the Angel Eye Ruffle Neckline Belted Dress underneath!

Pippa Middleton

Pippa Middleton’s bridesmaid dress designed by Sarah Burton has already captivated millions worldwide, and this Ichi Cowl Neck Dress sent to us by @b_fly77, features similar capped sleeves and the gorgeous cowl neck. Also, check out how we would style it here!

Victoria Beckham

We all expected Victoria Beckham to make a memorable appearance, and her midnight blue draped number from her own label certainly made an impact. @becksell2001 thinks that the gorgeous Amys Of Paris One Shoulder Dress makes it a great alternative – and we have to say we agree!

Remember to check back tomorrow, as we’ll be revealing the next five winners in a blog post! But if you had the choice, what would you have worn to the Royal Wedding?

Best Baby Tips – Competition Winners Part 2!

By Rochelle Symons in News on Tuesday 5th April, 2011

Baby Clothing

It’s time for us to reveal the second batch of top parenting tips we received in last week’s competition! The standard of entries was incredibly high and it was pretty tough to choose the best tips, but we eventually chose 30 winners who each won a £30 voucher to spend at Clothing at Tesco!

If you missed the first installment of brilliant tips and tricks yesterday, be sure to check them out – and stay tuned as we run through Part Two below!

To kick things off, we start with Oliver and Nicola who had some tricks for families with older siblings:

“Get your other children involved in helping with the baby, will help you out & help them feel more involved!”

Oliver Evans

“if you’re having your 2nd baby make sure you get a gift for your other child from the new baby. This way the older child will not feel left out at will see the new baby as a good thing as it brought a present with it for them”

Nicola Clarke

There are lots of ways Tesco’s can give you a helping hand with your bundle of joy, as Cheryl, Donna and Rose spotted:

“Baby clothes… family buy you loads and loads and loads of cute clothes, which all have one thing in common: they’re for Sunday best. What you really want is babygros. We got half a dozen from Tesco’s for a £10. So much easier to change for the first few weeks!”

Cheryl Hadfield

“Don’t spend an absolute fortune on your baby’s wardrobe!!! They grow out of them so quick and the weather in this country is so unpredictable, both my children had clothes they had only managed to wear once or twice before they grew out of them. Best thing to do is buy affordable good quality clothing (like Tesco’s!!!) instead of going for big designer outfits. The extra money you save then comes in useful for taking the children on days out so it benefits all the family.”

Donna Robertson

“My best baby tip as a mammie of an 8 month old is to join the Tesco Baby & Toddler Club, I got all the advice I need from my pregnancy through to feeding, getting a good night’s sleep & more.. I use the site frequently… get signed up today!”

Rose Kennedy

Finally, there was some great advice on how to look after mum too:

“When you have a new born baby, Don’t think you can do it all. After the trauma of birth your body does need rest! If someone you trust offers to look after the baby for a short while so you can rest, don’t feel guilty that you should be spending every second with the baby….. because if you get chance to rest, the time you have with your baby will be better quality.”

Kelly Sharp

“Don’t be afraid to ask for help. We are all mums in training.”

Juliette Morrison

“My tip is never forget to tell your child how special they are & that you love them every day. Teach them to be proud of who they are.”

Tracy Brown

“From the start, don’t compare yourself to other mums. Don’t panic if your friend is back in shape weeks after the birth or someone elses baby is sleeping through at six weeks and you are still up in the night. You will have your own way of doing things and just enjoy your baby!”

Sarah Saunders

“Never, ever feel guilty.  There is no such thing as “the perfect mum”.  Do it your way, 9.9/10 it will be the right way.”

Karlyn Austin

“Band together with fellow and recent new moms for support! Collectively you will know the best up-to-date information and the emotions are still fresh on everyone’s minds. Mum’s advice is good, but advise from your peers is easier to relate to.”

Chuey

“Children love praise so try to tell them everyday how proud and happy you are of the things they’ve done in the day. This is a great way to build their confidence.”

Rachel Dann

There’s still time to get a bundle for your special bundle, with 20% off all baby and toddler clothing online until Wednesday 6th April, so be quick! Click here to view all the items on offer.

Best Baby Tips – Competition Winners Part 1!

By Rochelle Symons in Competitions, News on Monday 4th April, 2011

Baby Clothing Facebook Competition

Last week, we asked you to submit your top parenting tips to be in with a chance of winning a bundle for your little bundle of joy! We’ve had great fun reading through your top tips, and a lucky 30 mums and dads have each won a fantastic £30 voucher to spend at Clothing at Tesco. We asked parents to share their pearls of wisdom with us on Twitter and Facebook, and below you can find the first instalment of our top tips and tricks, covering all aspects of parenthood.

We’re sorry we couldn’t reward all the fabulous ideas that were submitted, but thank you for entering. Some of you submitted very similar tips – great minds think alike, after all! –  but we could only pick just one winner in these cases. Also, as we have so many winning tips, we’ve had to spread them over two posts – so stay tuned as we reveal the second batch of brilliant tips tomorrow!

Remember, you can still get 20% off all baby and toddler clothing online until this Wednesday, 6th April. If you weren’t a winner this time, there are plenty of Facebook exclusives planned over the next few weeks, so make sure you’re a fan of our page and watch this space!

Carol, Elizabeth and Sarah had some great tips on getting your little one off to sleep:

“Catch up on your own sleep while your baby naps – housework can wait.”

Carol Mear

“To get baby to sleep well at night put something that smells of mummy in the cot with baby.”

Elizabeth Kerr

“Smoother slumber for twins and multiples: I had twins 13 months ago and the one thing I’m praised for by others is the girls sleeping routine. They sleep from 7pm – 8am every day. My helpful tips are: create consistency, follow the same pattern night after night at the same time if possible – bath, milk, brush teeth, kisses, hugs then lights out. This approach is good at naptime too, I find if my twins have a consistent nap schedule they sleep better during the night too.”

Sarah Watt

Victoria, Kushla, Kelly and Vanessa shared their ideas for helping your children start talking:

“Use a 3 word vocabulary to talk to babies, for example – ball= red, soft, round ball. My kids are great at writing stories as their vocabulary is fantastic. This helps them descriptions, as it’s not just a ball.”

Victoria Dodd

“Talk to your baby all the time, even when you’re pushing him along the road on your own. Chat about what you can see, about anything. You will look like a loon, but he’ll be learning. Trouble is, I did this with my son and now the tables are turned: he never stops talking to me now!”

Kushla Pope

“To help with speech, when offering you baby something, e.g. Milk, instead of just saying do you want some milk and showing it to them offer them milk or juice and show them each of the items as you say the word, even if at first they only point to the one they want make a point of saying that’s milk or that’s juice. Done this with my son from a young age and when he was just over 2 years old his nursery teacher, other parents, doctors etc. all commented on how impeccable his speech was for his age, more like a 3 year olds.”

Kelly Searle

“Communicating and listening to your child’s needs & setting time aside to talk are crucial. It will boost their confidence!”

Vanessa Cox

Hazel, Amanda and Jadie had lovely ideas for making memories:

“Keep a diary of all the funny things your little one has said and done, places you have been to and shared together. It’s really beautiful to look back on.”

Hazel Anna Rigazio

“When uploading pictures or printing them off write the age of your little one on the back or in the file name as in 5 years time you will find it hard to figure out the difference between 6, 9 & 18 months, maybe even between age 1 & 2, it seems hard to believe but it does happen!!!!”

Amanda Chittenden

“My best baby tip is to start a diary, write down things such as new foods eaten, nap times, milk intake, new words, milestones. It will come in handy for SO many reasons, especially if your baby gets poorly. And is great for tracking development. It will also be an amazing thing to look back at and show your child when their older :)”

Jadie Harrington

Lots of mums had brilliant advice on getting the most out of playtime:

“Encourage your kids to read from an early age, you’ll have great fun reading together and it’ll stay with them forever.”

Sharon Hingley

“Save cardboard boxes they make great entertainment, can be turned into dolls houses, a bus or even a boat!”

Emily McMillan

“SING! Babies can’t cry AND listen. So when little one is overtired, and crying non-stop, just sing. Pop songs, classics, advert tunes whatever you fancy.”

Joanna Monger

“Good way to keep babies quiet and get yourself fit at the same time, get a peddle bike and put a baby seat on it and you can ride for miles and keep fit at the same time! Also take the dog too! Saves on fuel too!! For shopping and passing time!!”

Celia Souto

“Libraries often have ‘baby rhyme time’ where parents and their babies sing songs for 20 minutes or so weekly. It is good for babies and you can stay behind to read books together as babies love books even at an early age. Also mum/dad gets to make new friends which is always a bonus when you have a new baby.”

Sarah Jess

“To keep baby amused whilst food shopping (at Tesco!), loop a large piece of ribbon through a couple of favourite rattles and tie to the trolley handles.  Baby can pick n choose which ones to play with, without fear of them dropping!”

Jackie Petty Jones

“Dads, If mum is breastfeeding, don’t feel left out. There is still lots you can do with baby. Show baby off by going for a nice walk. Bonding over playtime is great too, and if you’re lucky you may even get your little ones first smile!”

Sassysare
