Who is your World Cup team?

By Lauren Cooke in Womenswear on Tuesday 29th June, 2010

The World Cup is here! What, you mean you know?! Oh yes, that’s right, it is all anyone has been talking about for the past month. Well, now that England are out of the running we know that you are supposed to pretend that the World Cup never happened at all, but we think it is the perfect chance to celebrate some of the other teams who are still taking part.

If you fancy staying in the World Cup spirit, then why not wear an outfit based on the colours of your favourite team? England was the obvious choice, of course, but there are plenty of other nations that are great fun to watch and to support (you just might not want to do so at some of the rougher football loving pubs…).

With the help of Clothing at Tesco I have put together a few outfits inspired by some of the best flags in the World Cup, so that you can watch those games in style!

Items: F&F crop cardigan, Strappy platform shoe, Skinny jeans, Drawstring tunic, Yellow watch

The German team probably isn’t a favourite at the moment, but it is always a pleasure to watch them play football. Plus, I have a great deal of affection for our old football rivals, and always enjoy watching them play. Make black the base of this outfit, so that the red top and yellow accessories have something to stand out against.

Items: F&F shell top, Cut out pumps, Boyfriend jacket, Double layered skirt, Hoop necklace

Argentina are doing well so far too, and their flag lets us create a really light and summary outfit. The gentle and cool pairing of blue and white is given a little flare by the sunny yellow, making their colours a budding fashionista’s dream!

Items: F&F bandeau dress, Leather wedges, Studded trilby, Mischa Barton cross over bag

To be honest you could revamp the Dutch outfit to be French if you wanted, thanks to the similarity between the flags! I like the idea of teaming muted whiteish accessories with a pretty red summer dress, and using your makeup to make the statement in blue.

Items: Floral shorts, Signature wallet, Checked shirt, Knotted vest, Weaved pumps

Ghana are my personal favourite for the world cup, not to win but just for fun. So far they are defying everyone’s expectations! Cheer them along with a bright and colourful outfit – such as these cute floral shorts, a green top, and a yellow top. It ain’t quiet and it ain’t subtle, but I think it is a really fun look!

More than the World cup….

By Rochelle Symons in News on Thursday 10th June, 2010

World Cup madness is firmly upon us, which also means that World Cup fatigue may be setting in for some of the *ahem* less football mad amongst us. So if you feel like you just want to get away from all the madness, and do something different, here are our tips for a World Cup free weekend!

Firstly, festival season is kicking into first gear, so for those of you who were able to grab a ticket to the Isle of Wight festival this weekend, you’re in for a treat with the musical delights of Paul McCartney, Blondie, Pink and Crowded House. The tickets have sold out, but you can always find one on viagogo.

If you’re up in Manchester, you can treat yourself to a trip to the theatre and go see  Cirque Du Soleil at the Evening News Arena. Grab a ticket on Ticketmaster to see the world famous circus perform.

If you’re looking for a quieter weekend you can always watch Big Brother from the comfort of your own home…it is the last season after all, so your last chance to moan about the housemates!

If none of those take your fancy don’t worry we will look after you! This Saturday 12th June we have a 20% off special for all the World Cup Widows out there. It starts at 6.00am and lasts until midnight, so treat yourself while the football is on! Just enter the code ENGLAND at the online clothing checkout to redeem this offer.

Street Style – South African Style

By Rochelle Symons in Street Style on Thursday 29th April, 2010

With the World Cup just around the corner, we had our South African insider hit the streets to give us a taste of what the big trends and looks are in Cape Town.

Unlike here, the summer season has just ended in South Africa, and they are moving into autumn, which is why some of our models are dressed up a bit warmer than you would expect.

For those of you travelling to the World Cup, remember that it’s going to be rainy and a bit cold (although nowhere near as cold as our autumn). So stock up on light jackets and denim. If your not heading off to the World Cup, but want too make sure you enter our competition to win a family trip to the World Cup.

Our insider has informed us vintage clothing has always been a big part of Cape Town fashion, you can see a lot of vintage pieces in these photos. There are loads of vintage stores in Cape Town, and if you chose the right ones you can honestly snap up some ridiculously cheap bargains!

Our model in the red dress is rocking the ‘zef’ trend with her sunglasses, a South African trend epitomized by the band ‘Die Antwoord’.

What do you think of their style? Are you a fan?
